Characteristics
This golf course bears the distinctive signature of the British, who set it up in 1969. It is characterised by its population of old trees and its park-like terrain. In June 2001, the course was extended to 18 holes by adding a lake with a surface of 15,500 sq yds, among other things. Well-kept golf in Berlin-Gatow

Played on 8/24/2021. The 18-hole course with an attached 6-hole short course is located a little south-west of Berlin in the direction of Potsdam. There is still a short drive to go from the A10 or A115 motorways. The facility is located right next to a military site and is partially surrounded by a residential area or a new housing estate. The entrance is decently signposted and takes place via a smaller street in front of a gate, which in my case was open. Mostly you play through tranquility and nature. There are some very wooded tracks at the beginning and at the end of the round, which probably belong to an older part of the course. There is a real parkland feeling here, with sometimes narrower discounts. Most of the course is flat, but on track 6 it goes extremely downhill through a small valley and on track 8 it goes up again. For me the most interesting part of the place. Despite this small ascent and descent, those with normal athletic ambitions should be able to get along without a cart. The club celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2019 and the overall atmosphere is also rather traditional. But there were also some young people on the facility during training. The tracks are quite attractive and varied. There are many doglegs where more strategic play is called for. Most of the tees are open, but the fairays are often mowed very closely. The condition was good. Little foreign growth in the fairways, the greens in perfect order and as fast as an arrow. The game was busy on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, one flight after the other was still going on after 5:00 p.m. There are tee times that you can also book online as a guest via the homepage. This should be done in good time. At the first tee it is clearly indicated that the start times must be strictly adhered to, i.e. do not start earlier, even if the fairway is free! Although most of the members greeted them in a friendly way, you shouldn't necessarily expect to be let through as a single guest. By the way, you should take the warning signs on the 9th tee seriously and not leave your bag there unattended. From the outside, the clubhouse makes a plain, but from the inside a decent impression. The restaurant terrace is in front of the 18th green and was well attended. The lady at the counter was friendly. The green fee is reasonable on weekdays at 65 €, on weekends at 85 € a tad too high. But there are early bird and sundowner rates on weekdays and also on weekends. A surcharge for golfers without a golden hologram is not levied in a way that promotes golf. If you are in the area, you can definitely recommend a varied round in Gatow.

We visited this year a few times in Gatow.
It divides into an "old" and a "new" area.
While the old 9 are a beautiful parkland course, the new 9 await the player with varied, partly spectacular and partly very challenging tracks.
The greens are sophisticated, but for everyone to master.
The practice is very good. A great range, a large area for chipping and ping as well as a practice green for putting in front of the clubhouse terrace round off the good overall impression.
In the summer, a "Sundowner tariff" offers the opportunity to get to know the place at a very reasonable price.
The approach is despite a short distance to the city center of Berlin nevertheless longer than imagined. This has to do with generally relatively heavy traffic - especially to the rush hour. But the way is worth it.

Beautiful place with old trees

The golf course Gatow is a great golf course, which consists of an "old" parts with great stands of trees and a new part. It is really fun to play here. Particularly appealing I find the difference in elevation between holes 7 and 9. Complete the ball but rather play the way across the water and a "detour". Oh, the little lake I forgot. My balls love him. Beautiful place in Berlin.
