Characteristics

Anjou Golf & Country Club is in the heart of the historic Anjou region in the Loire valley. We are situated a half hour drive north of the city of Angers and just minutes from the neighbouring villages of Cheffes and Champigné. The course, designed by the English architect Frederic Hawtree, offers an enjoyable game for players of all levels in a peaceful environment. The clubhouse restaurant and bar are open to everybody for lunch from Wednesdays to Sundays during the winter season and from Tuesday to Sunday from the 1st of April to the 30th of September. Visitors often breakfast on the terrace which overlooks the 18th green. We can accomodate a maximum of 50 people in our 18 rooms and 3 self-catering studios. Our pro Nathan is bilingual. Anjou Golf also offers a driving range and a 6-hole practice course. For visitors who do not play golf, we recommend touring the nearby chateaux such as the Plessis Bourré, Brissac and, of course, Angers.

Gorgeous place but dry

Yesterday Houlgate, today again a very spacious place, I suspect an old hunt. But in Anjou you can see how to do it right: the course plays like a great adventure instead of resembling a motorway. After three holes you have lost all orientation and are simply gone. One is happy when the clubhouse briefly comes into view again at the 9, and of course the same at the 18. The course does not require any special physical exertion, only small waves have to be overcome.

With all that space, the holes are very exciting and the greens are challenging. It's just fun to play here, especially since the course is full of ancient trees, especially the almost hollow oaks, which rarely really come into play.

A place to enjoy, but it was quite dry. Nevertheless, he played very well. sandy bottom. A fellow player said that in other years everything is completely brown by the end of July. Most greens suffered from a fungus. It was also good to play with, I'm just sorry for the club. Something like that is hard to fight. I found it a bit annoying that the greens were much smaller than the architect intended with his bunkers. The green bunkers often came across as fairway bunkers.

The restaurant offers a magnificent view of the 18th green, that should be mentioned. A wonderful day of golf.
