Overpriced average course

Played here last week, paid £115 which included 18 holes, range balls, golf club hire and buggy.
The course itself is well kept, very challenging due to the amount of bunkers and wind.
The one major downside is the golf clubs as they are very old and below par, the grips might as well not be on due to the very poor quality. I asked for a better set but was advised these are the only ones they give for hire and as it’s holiday golf it’s the best they can do. My issue here is that if one is paying £115 for a round the least you can expect is a decent set of clubs.
The poor quality of the clubs spoilt the round.

Respectable

The place is in an acceptable condition, tees and greens top, fairways on the back nine with potential. The layout is really interesting and challenging to play. Therefore definitely recommended, especially since the back nine are really hilly and therefore very varied. However, the visual impression around it is rather poor.

Great place... very demanding

Fairways and greens in top condition.
With the strong wind that actually always blows very strongly here (up to 50 km/h and more) it's not for beginners or high-hookers, but there are still a lot of people romping around on the course and stopping good players! It's no fun waiting 10 minutes before each shot...
I really don't understand why these people do this to themselves...

Greatly improved November 2022

The course is in very good condition.
The prices have been reduced. The new golf manager Simon and his team, headed by Samir, did a great job. The greens "bite" and are not as hard as they used to be. The place is not overcrowded. You can easily get your desired start time. We have played all three courses around Hurghada, Makadi is our favourite. And in combination with the Steigenberger Hotel an all-round great package. From breakfast to tee off in 2 minutes. Just relaxed.

Desert Golf

Great atmosphere! Beautiful facility, luxurious hotel / Cluhaus, overlooking the Red Sea / desert / mountains.
Very well maintained facility with very fast concrete hard greens. Per track five (!) Cuts, the ladies' haircuts were 80-120 m shorter. You should tee off> 100m from yellow to reach the fairway. There is no rough; There is desert next to the fairways, there you can find every ball and just keep playing. The fairways were well watered and the grass was green. The green fee is too high with 90 €, with leihbags and kart costs a married couple round 250 € ...

What a pity!

In the last three years, the course care has deteriorated very much. We are not surprised that the place is empty most of the time. With wind and dryness you can accept, you know, when you golf in Egypt. No comparison to Soma Bay or El Gouna. There are green fairways and greens accepting balls.
The HeadPro is self-sufficient, almost obtrusive.
Too bad, because the place is challenging and varied, not suitable for beginners, because there certainly outweighs the frustration.

The desert is alive

My wife and I, Hcp 22 and 18, stayed at Steigenberger right on the square and played it three times.

In fact, the fairways are brown and flat, and all this garnished with loads of bunkers, which makes the bauble really difficult. In addition very fast greens, to which one must first get used. And a par 5 with 520 meters uphill is already an announcement. In that sense, the score was rather modest.

The course design is quite appealing, it goes up and down, water hazards, etc.
What really annoying was the constant wind, which is more normal at the time of year. And play from the tee 130 feet over sand is also getting used to.

Pro Shop and Caddymaster rather listless, it will not even cleaned the racket. Since the boys could earn a tip.

Terrace in Steigenberger very nice. Soma Bay is another league.

Demanding -interested

The place was built on a hill so often very windy. The haircuts require a good length. The fairways are very nice. The greens are fast and well maintained. The staff very friendly. Recommendation: The first round with the Elektrocart because conditionally very demanding! Have fun!

Only average

We played the course in January 2019 in strong wind (28 knots). The first 9 holes on foot, as all carts were taken! The Backnine are recommended for fun golfers only with Cart as extremely hilly. Some blind holes require knowledge of space. Bunker without sand. Clubhouse and service ok.
Conclusion: play once is enough.

By far the worst place and in addition completely overpriced

Forwarding Hcp 18.6 played on 01/16/2019 Score 102 hits.
Green fee $ 99 for 18 holes. Racket set complete 19 dollars.
And what old stuff, oh my dear Scholli.
When I spoke to the caddy master about it, he just grinned smugly.
By far the worst place I've ever played.
Pure tourists rip off.
Nothing, but nothing justifies this price.

Whether in Tunisia, Spain, Portugal, Germany or Turkey, I have not played a worse place. Considering that January is now 22 degrees outside in Egypt in January, you'd think the golf courses would have a little time to recover, and the course maintenance is in full swing, as there is virtually nothing going on. Not even close.

Any other place that moves in this price segment would now have its irrigation system in operation. Here was on ANY of the 18 hole to see something of it.

The place is completely green / brown, almost no really green place. Of course there is a brown / green strip (the so-called fairway), the tee boxes and what should call green.
But the place is bone-dry whether fairway or green.

There is almost no track that does not hang in any direction. Is not generally bad, we know from the Allgäu, Eifel, etc. also. But since everything is so dry, no ball comes to a halt.
Several times my ball has rolled back or forth 70 - 80 meters. A length control is definitely not possible. Even if you see the ball landing, it is far from there.
That's just not fun.

Finally, a little anecdote on the edge.

Since I get a logo ball from every seat, so too here. I thought. When I was then offered a logo box (Srixon) for $ 7 in the Proshop, thankfully refused.
Makadi Golf and also Steigenberger, you should do something URGENTLY here.

Top place - super well maintained - top team

Super friendly staff.
Pick up by golf cart from the hotel was always fast (makadi beach) care condition of the place, especially the greens top.
Very varied - first 9 flat, second surprisingly very hilly, but interesting.

Unfortunately no offer for 4x play - only 3 and 5 days packages pricing unfortunately also in the upper range.

But like to come again.

We're back on the last week of December

Very well maintained quiet area

We really enjoyed the game on what we consider to be a demanding pitch. We could practice in peace. Unfortunately, the pricing is not perfect. We miss a discount on 3 or 4 rounds of 9 holes which is especially annoying for ambitious beginners who do not want to go to the round every day for 6 days. Here, the management should come up with something. The shop was not fun and seemed a bit old-fashioned. The offer was very clear. Therefore only 4 stars where the Snlage would have easily deserved 5.

A really nice place

In my view, the No. 1 three 18 hole courses near Hurghada. The tracks are interesting, some with water hazards and some with uphill- / downhill challenges. Here one could take a cart, but does not (the money you could save quite). The condition of both the fairways and the greens was very good. The staff were super friendly. Again, the unfortunately very strong wind has the game very difficult and plenty of Gone with some balls. Difficult, especially since the middle Mr. tee times well over 100 meters Carry was required. However, it has yet totally a lot of fun and there were very few flights go, so therefore a very relaxing round. If you consider that water / is very rare and precious expensive, then the green fee is really reasonable.

A dream in the desert

We are the 1st time in Hurghada for golf (Hcp 14.6 and 1.9).
The staff at the golf course are all very friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, there is currently little golfer, the place is very empty. A good flow of the game is given by. We were lucky with the wind, it blew a gentle breeze. Top-kept area. One certainly challenging course because there are many bunkers and right and left desert but quite playable.

Fun to play here

Beautiful Desert Golf!

Extremely windy - partly to 70 km / h

Greens are as hard as concrete.

In corresponding packets of the price goes OK.

The course can easily be covered on foot.
There were players on the pitch, the 2x18 hole ran daily.

Who had little to do was the Pro and the Headpro.
Lag in my survey of the guests at the hotel (Steigenberger) on price. The price for 2 per hour equivalent to the average monthly salary of a Hotelangestellten- because I would think about it!

I'll definitely be back here.

Beautiful golf course in the desert but overpriced

There is an 18 hole championship course and a small exercise Course, which I have not played.
When 18 holes like me 9 better, since water comes into play in the first 3 tracks. The back nine are slightly hillier, so you should consider taking a buggy.
Once I asked why so little people play golf here, told me the pro shop staff that about 40 people had played today, which is not exactly a lot yes. I have taken on my rounds after noon definitely on the whole golf course only 3 other players from a distance true.
I (HCP 16) have played 2 times here, but I'm due to the high prices are not determined here again.
The high prices also determine mainly the poor overall rating of only 2 stars

1.) Greens
The Greens see at first glance look good, but are very hard and bumpy so the balls do not run tracks properly and without turn break just before the hole (3 stars)

2.) fairways and tee areas and fairways tee boxes are in a very good condition.
The tee of yellow one has about 130-150 meters rough desert sand overcome the fairway to achieve, which is why I was playing of blue, which I other golfers if they are not longhiter, would also recommend. (4 stars)

3.) Personnel and General There is ample and friendly staff. On the lap I have seen at least 6 people who plucked crafted weeds, algae fished out of the water or otherwise were as busy. And almost everyone has offered me a Fund ball, in anticipation of a small reward.
The place is generally in good condition. There is hardly any garbage lying around and everything is very well maintained. (4 stars)

4.) Prices The prices are much too high.
18 holes: 107 €
9 holes: € 63
Buggy: € 32
2 people with buggy: ~ € 250 (1 Star)

Dear Sir,

Many thanks for your feedback which is important to us. We are happy that you enjoyed the course as a whole even though you feel that our prices are a 'little high' thus the 2 star rating, however they are competitive with the surrounding courses & better value is within the packages of 3 & 5 rounds.

Please check the next time that you plan to play as we may have special promotions on such as the 79$ afternoon rate which maybe more towards your liking. As you can image a golf course with 46Ha of grass and consuming 6,000M3 / day of water in the hight of summer comes at a certain cost to the consumer.

Furthermore we do look forward in welcoming you back & please be sure to contact through our German Director of Sales Daniela who would be more than happy to assist.

For each claim

Not only for single-Handycapper, even for normal recreational golfers the site is suitable. Good Condition, fast and challenging greens.
The fairways wide and hard, the roll is similar. Good placement of bunkers in front of the greens and the tee-landing zone. The course is demanding of all discounts. We have the space played 6 times, each time we had our fun.
Suggestions for improvement: - collect the plastic waste is transferred from the wind often,
- At the start more than one bottle of water free of charge filters (the drinks sold by the caddy master on the second nine are overpriced)

Dear Silvester,

Thanks for your feedback which is very important to us and your comments are taken on board.

The wind is a challenge here as you know, and we have a dedicated team on standby collecting any plastic that may be blown in, thus the course is always in a very clean and tidy condition.

We look forward in welcoming you back to Egypt's No1 Golf Resort - World Golf Awards 2014 & 2015.

Golf pleasure in the desert

Varied, challenging with sometimes long, but mostly wide fairways and 6 different tee positions: it makes playing golf for all levels of fun. The fairways and greens are hard and fast; the ball rolls farther than you think.
In the first half, there is plenty of water; in the 2nd half is uphill and downhill. Extreme on hole 11 - a par 4: Drive the ball rolls in good downhill almost to the green. Rarely have I seen a place with sooo many bunkers, all well maintained.
In any case, I recommend a car at a fair price of 25 €. The staff is very friendly. And the best part: no waiting times and always good weather!

A dream for good golfers

We were (the 2nd time) 2 weeks at the Steigenberger Hotel and looked at the great golf course. He is sensitively applied in this hilly desert without affecting the environment too. We must not forget that the site is located in the desert, anywhere to play for more than the typical coarse sand. Since we only played yellow tea, it made huge delight when we came gradually over the long Beaches, as there is a reduction from 100 to 120 m carry min. required to get on the fairway. Of course, there were plenty of discounts before for less experienced players. Everywhere an incentive to the skill of the player is given. Sure you have to adjust to the short grass, roll the balls long, but you do not come easily underneath. The holes on the greens were changed almost daily, so that it was the special attraction because they are not easy to play and be read. I have no favorite hole, as they were all so different and it just made fun to play well.
Hordes of local Help can be seen all that clean this place and its environment continuously, without approaching the players!
Even before the playback care by the Secretariat, and all the service staff is very large.
We will definitely go again

Holiday golfing at its finest

Since four years we play this course and will be opening here in the future. From the architecture we like the place very well. He has very interesting game tracks which are also very demanding. Because of the temperatures, the fairways are indeed some very fast, but it is a golfer must also be set. It seemed to me the condition of the course very well maintained, albeit at brooks and hedges some garbage was (mostly plastic cup of golfers who have denounced this in their reviews). But that does not bother but my game! The fairways and greens are in great shape, I have discovered no brown spot on the green background.
Quite excellent I felt that we. Now November / December no tee times needed. No crowds, no stress (as in Majorca or Turkey).
The management of the club can be described as exemplary. The people there made us feel like always sincerely welcomed us and before or during the round fulfills all wishes.
Our next golf vacation is already planned for this plant!

Diversified Golf Course

End of February 2013, we have gepsielt this place several times and he loved it.
When I read some very bad reviews on here, I wonder if we were in the same place. We were greeted very friendly at the pro shop and went to release the green fees to the Cart to the driving range. It is a fairly large practice area with many bunkers on the target range. Furthermore, a chipping and pitching area and a large putting green.
The course was in very good condition. That hanging a plastic bag in the bushes here and there is indeed so, but was on the other golf courses is no different and no space problem but rather a national problem. The place is rather long, especially for the men, and very varied. The erstesn 9 tracks rather flat and the second very hilly. At bunkers and waste areas was not saved and make the game challenging. In addition, it has very often struggling with the very strong wind. Water hazards, numerous bunkers, tees into the unknown or two time zones down :-) leaves the game never be boring. My personal favorite was the 11 hole (only once after the discount is not located in the lower bunker sigh).

Even the short course we played. For the irons and wedges train ideal and also has its pitfalls. The price for this is clearly too high.. unfortunately.

The Green Free prices are 85 euros certainly not very convenient, but it also would not call it overpriced. We have booked a package and then stood at a price of 65 euros per round. When we wanted to play more rounds to play the packages, we got a special rate immediately without asking both the green fee, as well as Cart.

I recommend the place more definitely and will certainly come back. The length of the different layers of wind and very good for my taste condition that the course is a good place to train.

Windy and varied

We have played this course 3 weeks ago and it was in good condition. What I like are the really varied tracks, each hole is a surprise. The condition was quite good, considering the few players who get lost on this sensational place. I guess it's up to the rather high green fees, which may be appropriate, but unfortunately difficult to convey. In addition, the restaurant is not just the "cream of the crop" - again, not true value for money. The price structure should change once, then the place is really a super recommendation. He makes me anyway always fun.

An experience

The face of extreme climatic conditions, a great, entertaining course. Actually not exactly cheap, but you will be compensated for the feeling to play golf "in the middle of the desert!" The fairways are hard (no na), but not so sandy as in Soma Bay, where it is believed to be constantly on the fairways hit from bunkers. It has great views of the sea, even though the space is not directly located on the sea, so that the winds are not so gusty. All in all, more than an experience.

Concrete runway

With much anticipation we have the green fee (85, - €) on 18.01.2011 solved inclement shop staff.
Left out of consideration the stormy wind, which was playing on the golf course is not satisfactory and the fun factor is equal to zero.
Maybe we were spoiled by the golf course in El Gouna and Soma Bay, because the condition of the golf course was a decent game just too bad.
From tee to hole the place was a concrete runway and a difference between fairway and greens was not identifiable.
All bins are overflowing and not emptied long with safety. Thus the garbage flew over the golf course.
And finally, the beer was served in the clubhouse in cans.

Conclusion: Golf turnoff

A place with beautiful architecture but in horrible condition!

Cute desert golf

Interestingly Desert Course, which is sometimes difficult to play by strong winds. 've Played no place with such a variety of bunkers, but yes there have enough sand. Place is well maintained and well signposted. Because of the enormous differences in height and length, the use of carts is a must.
But an impertinence The green fee is 90 € plus an additional 25 € for the cart. Five Pack cost of the green fees for 72 €. After playing the double package (for my wife and me) we wanted to play a game for which we should pay back € 90.
After a lengthy discussion and threats on my part as far as the reviews on the internet, one has again offered us a green fee for 72 €.
We played the way in October 2009 and found there some days no other golfers on the course.
