OK, but not a must play

the first 3 holes are very nice to play, also the last ones.
the others in between are nothing but a wide open range, where it's hard to loose a ball – in fact, a bit boring. that's the reason why the 5th star is missing.
the course was in very good shape, bedded into a beautiful landscape, well organised and with a good restaurant (excellent wood stove pizzas).
bring your drivers license or your passport. otherwise they won't let you in. house rules... and yes, this is ridiculous!

Nice wineland golf course

From clubhouse, caddy master to visitors a friendly and relaxing service. The course by itself was in good condition (cobsidering the watering restrictions here). Not always an easy course but very fair. The only balls lost are in the water obstacles. Many players due to 6 min teetimes but we've never felt being pushed.
A you'll have to play course.

Slow...

Course is great but when we played it it wasn't more then good. Slow greens and a bit hacked up fairway.
Fun to play though!
The problem is the push out 4ball after 4ball with 8 minutes in between which doesn't really work a lot highhcp hacking germans everywhere...
2.45h for nine hole is a pain regardless of what course you play. Probably never go there again.

A walk in a park

The place is wonderfully located in the vineyards. No comparison with the flat back and forth local golf course Stellenbosch 3 km before. The Kleine Zalze winery is on the same fenced-in area but is probably not directly part of it. The houses are all far away from the fairway, no danger. You should enjoy the slightly hilly place on foot, but at 33 °C and sun, ugh. Very nice "luxury" organization in colonial style including shoe shine service, if you like it. But at €180/2 people it was the most expensive place we played. Pezula was a cheaper cart included and less playful. As a highlight, there are 3 tee islands built into the lake at one hole with access via a bridge. Unplugged men (age appropriate) was 1st with 50 m carry. I took the second island, which was probably the normal one.
The park ended at the 18th hole. Here it looked like a river in Africa. There are said to be Rooikats (Caracals) there in the evenings.
Great colonial-style clubhouse full of Germans. However, boys in school uniform from Somerset West came to training. That loosened up the “luxury” a bit.

Great place, but also ups and downs

We played the course on January 23rd, 2024.
Here, too, we reserved the tee time and the clubs from Germany, which was confirmed to us again.
The evening before (based on our experiences in Kynsna & Pinnacle Point) we drove to De Zalze to see if everything was ready for the following day.
The same topic here again: men's right-handed racket available, women's left-handed racket not available (despite email confirmation). Here again, we don't have the employees shrugging their shoulders.
After it was made very clear to the men in the ProShop that this was an outrage and that we expect something to be done by the club, the matter gained momentum and 30 minutes later at least one men's left-handed set of clubs from a member was available to play - against, of course Fee.
The next morning we went for a ride to a great, well-kept place. The fairways are watered by the employees in addition to the sprinkler systems (which was also necessary when it was 40 degrees on the course). The layout of the course fits into nature (grape vines - wine-growing region). The highlight for us is the 13th tee, which is on an island over which you have to play onto the fairway.
All in all, a great day and a great place, but again the challenge with the women's left-handed set of clubs.
Our conclusion - we will now take our own sets of clubs with us on our golf tours.

Very nice facility. Great place

The entire area is very beautiful and spacious. The clubhouse in the middle. We rented golf clubs and trolleys. Top gear! And the team was super friendly.
Price for 2 people about 240, - € (green fee / rental club / modern 3-wheel trolley) is quite sporty. But the package fits.
Place was in great condition! The fairways are very varied. Water in about 1/3 of the tracks in the game. Slightly hilly but easy to walk. Share great panoramas with the mountains around Stellenbosch. Tees large and straight. Fairways not too narrow but always something tricky. Bunker top and the greens are also very nice. We had medium fast greens. The greens are not particularly undulating. This wasn't a challenge. The golf courses are framed by houses but with enough distance so that they do not disturb. Sometimes even vines next to the track! I've never been in the Sauvignon Blanc :-)
From us: thumbs up

Impeccable Place

The not uninteresting place played very demanding with relatively strong wind. From the penultimate tee at par 72 around 5,940 m long, some par 4 are difficult to reach in headwinds.
Nice layout, varied lanes, I particularly liked the par 3 of the 9 and the par 5 of the 14.
Fairways well maintained, bunkers a bit hard, greens impeccable and relatively quick!
Gladly again.

It's not worth it

Played on December 21,2019 Place in top condition Staff very friendly! Everything beautifully laid out!
What I personally didn't like is
the monotony, you play like
straight ahead and for a freeway
the place is too expensive! We had a special price
495 rand so it was ok

If you play

Place played on 27.1.18. Having previously played 8 places around Cape Town, I can not fully share the opinion of my prescriptive. This place is one of the better course and worth its money with 1,025 rand. Better Course? like Arabella or Steenberg cost over 1,300. Tsar. The distance of the houses is sufficiently removed and not to compare with the building in eg Spain. The layout of the course quite varied, almost no fairway runs parallel to the other. Lateral or over-play water provide tension. Despite the current drought around Cape Town, the place has enough green space around the green.

Unspectacular overpriced golfing experience

Place without special highlights compared to more attractive places around Cape Town. In the background, though, beautiful scenery of the mountains around Stellenbosch, which is clouded by the dense development around the square again. The second 9 lanes are nicer, but everything seemed a bit dry and not as well maintained as in other places, even if you have to all the clubs benefit from the current drought.
Staff was not quite as professional and sometimes a little arrogant, the audience was sometimes downright unfriendly.
Green fee prices for what is offered, too high. All in all, an acceptable golf experience, if you already know the other places, but not a MUST and certainly no incentive to repeat!

Nice and interesting facility

Very varied plant with quite challenging holes. Greens also very good.
Unfortunately, there were dry spots on all fairways. These dry spots do not disturb the game, but the eye. With a little more care in greenkeeping these problems should be solved, the sprinkler system would have to be serviced and / or some money put into the water repellent. By the way, the carts were brand new and equipped with GPS, so really good.

Beautiful varied course

Located in De salts Real Estate is this well maintained course. Very varied holes, but not very sophisticated. Due to high demand a very early reservation is recommended. Positive: The driving range is in the green fee included.

Beautiful golf course in the middle of a vineyard

We stayed in February 2017 beautiful day at De Zalze Estate with golf, lunch at the restaurant terroir and a winetasting at Kleine Zalze.
The golf course is beautifully laid out amid the vines, around the square are beautiful to look at white houses of the resort and the De Zalze Lodge. The tracks are playing varied and beautiful. Often, water comes into play.
The wine theme is also taken up on the golf course, as each track is named after a vineyard in the region, which is characterized by the appropriate wine barrels on the tee.
The fairways were despite the extreme drought in the region still maintained green and good. Greens and bunkers were in good condition.
The course is flat and you do not need Cart. However, the carts are a disaster. Our Flight Partners had caddies with much golf and course knowledge.
It will begin in 8-minute intervals in the 4-Flight. For (weekday in the morning) decent game pace (4 h 20 min).
Beautiful clubhouse with a great terrace overlooking the grounds.
Overall conclusion: 4 stars for the place, but a tendency to 5 stars because of the beautiful grounds.

Great Place

De Zalze Golf Located just minutes from Stellenbosch in a gated beautiful grounds.
A pleasant side effect is that the balls on the driving are rank included.
Anyone planning long should reserve early for a dinner afterwards in also situated on this terrain Restaurant "terroir", because the place is fully booked for weeks (months).
The place itself has very well kept greens, but unfortunately there are some places on the fairway where some bare soil is only available or located in Fareway holes, so we had this distinct disadvantages in our internal Tournament. It must be said with satisfaction that the Platmanagement strong effort to keep the place in good condition. Again and again we have to wait briefly to the greens because they are watered (certainly because they will not survive an entire day without water).
Nevertheless it is a fact that some points in the square are not optimal for the game.
In the late afternoon, we had very strong wind that even the ball was blown when putting.
There are some very beautiful, spectacular tracks. For me to give a must to a place full marks. Four and a half points gets the place of mine but only because I was on the fairway was not satisfied with some places and the wind came violently into play.
Of course, a place where it is most certainly worth - to be played - even several times.

Golf, Wine, Food

A system where you can spend a fun-filled vacation. Beautiful, interesting course with some very exciting holes. In high season, however slow for South African conditions match tempo.
Must do: then lunch / dinner at the "Terroir" next door - the most beautiful 19th hole that I know. And of course, the wines of the small Zalze for home - Golfer heart what you want more.

Top Resort Golf in Wine Country

Played on 02/21/2016. For me one of the best places around Cape Town. Below Stellenbosch offers the mostly flat 18-hole course (cart not required) golf at its finest. Super neat location in peace and nature area with a number of challenges for the most demanding golfers. Especially fantastic views repeatedly in the surrounding mountains and winelands. Already at the entrance to the resort you get fancy golf. The reception at the ProShop in the beautiful clubhouse is then indeed more businesslike, but the caddy master and the starter very friendly, although possibly a little messy. The course runs along varied through the winery. Even the holes 1 and 3 offer discounts on water. There are doglegs, placed bunkers and also the game along lakes, where the wind always comes into play. The season is at least in the South African summer is quite high, therefore it is advisable to tee time reservation, which is possible online. Started by two teas usually in four flights. The game speed can be correspondingly long that Halfwaypause is also mandatory. The green fee is about 50, - € located in the higher segment but worth every Euro. Of course there is also a driving range with free balls. For me, a must if you are in the area and better by a mile compared to neighbors Stellenbosch GC!

Varied golf course - not cheap

Despite months of drought, the fairways were in good condition, which can not necessarily be said of the greens. Although he is not very heavy rated, one must not underestimate the space. Unfortunately, the Marshal are too little road, so that there are eternal traffic jams. Along with the obligatory break after 9 holes we needed nearly 5 1/2 hours.

A heated golf day (> 30 degrees)

The facility is well maintained (Fairways and greens).
Hole 13 Par 4 one of the finest in the Western Cape - accessible by Driver - good luck:-)

The staff is very professional and helpful. The course is designed fair but not too spectacular. Unfortunately, this course is surrounded by houses.

Nevertheless, the course is one of the top 10 in the Western Cape.

PS Value for money is right.

Positive development in the last year!

Here is something positive has developed over the last year. The Proshop renovated, modernized the Gastro, the trolleys all new, even to pull the machine. No annoying sandbags buy more at the start. Well trained, friendly and helpful staff,

The course presents itself well maintained, great water rides require precise game. We enjoyed it very much again on De Zalze, a very solid and interesting golf course, this Cape golfers should not miss!!
For lunch, the winery De Zalze would be recommended, just to the left around the corner.

Unspectacular

Have played the course in mid-March. Neat, clean and hyperhydrated in good condition, but and unspectacular. The area with the mountains is very beautiful to look at.
If you want to carry or drag, the place is good to manage. E-cart but definitely reserve when booking. When we played, there was no more. We wanted to order before the e-cart on the day, but were not allowed on the premises without tea-time for the day. Seemed to us, as we wanted to visit a maximum security prison. Friendliness and service very upgradeable respect, who wants to pull or carry must shell out 15 rim for Divotsand.

A little disappointed

This place was very touted by many Flight partners with whom we had played before on other places. But so overwhelming he was not then.
The reception was very friendly, the caddy master, however, very resistant. First we had to wait a pre-ordered Cart, allegedly because they were all in use. Then still carts were brought out of the garage and give us unloving. The cooler we also received only on demand. Naughty it was then, when we still had about 35 minutes to our start time and wanted something even putt at rest and the starter has pushed us to tee off, we need to start immediately. We have never experienced!
Otherwise, the place is well maintained and has some interesting holes, but very sheeted.
For the price there are better places!

Beautiful place and just outside the "excellent" by

The lady at the reservation was ok. The reception at the club was very nice and accommodating.

The place is beautifully situated very nice and the layout is, with the exception of two or three "fill holes" very good. The condition of the tee boxes, 'fairways and greens is top.

Negative is only the already mentioned additional fee for the divot sand of 15 edge. Since we like to run, we have taken two trollies. Adds man the cost of two trollies and the 30 edge of the sand, so the cost compared to a buggy almost identiisch because the sand is not charged in the buggy. Man can thus take for around EUR 3 addition also equal a buggy...

Faziit: One of the nicer places that you like can also play two or three times without getting bored. At the "very good" was missing very little. Drive from the Waterfront around 40 minutes are worthwhile.

All right. Neither more nor less

Played on 06.12.2013, HCP 13

The course begins with a challenging tee over moat and possibly (to shorten) over a larger tree. In the way there are some interesting tracks, but unfortunately, especially in the front part, many Füllnummern (long, wide fairways with large bunkers - no more). Every now and then one or the other highlight (heavily defended by water par 3s) and a par 4 with the (men's) Reductions of islands are played. A Cart is not absolutely necessary, if one is not bad foot.

Tricky the rich grass that particular complicates the short game.
Greens large and partly strongly undulated.

Care condition very neat, but it does not make so much effort such as "next door" in Pearl Valley. The sprinklers run by just that shuts off no, even if the ball is directly under it.

Scenic nice are the uniform, white "Dutch House" in place (much nicer and more subtle than the usual unfinished buildings in certain Iberian countries) and the mountains in the background. From time to time a great water hazard, otherwise not much for the eyes - the growth is not exactly abundant.

Conclusion: Overall OK - because of the highlights you can play the course times. Quiet "take" when you are already near - extra Hinfahren it's not worth it. (In the "Bear Golf Ranking": 5 of 10.)

The greed for dollars

A beautiful place which unfortunately is very inaccessible. To play fair. Layout and quality compared to some other places in South Africa nothing special.
We wanted to get us something to leak into even more good food in us and decided to push trolleys. They looked so like lightweight aluminum and the site has little climbs.
The trolleys were made of stainless steel but l! To have to be a masochist to draw on wet, dense African Carpet. An impertinence. The manager of the club should be bound to such a car and thus be driven daily over the place.
The best thing about greed but was certainly having to pay the 15 edge for a Sandbag. We had 15 different courses played in SA. Among others, the Durban Golf and Country Club, Pezula, Semola, George, Selbourne, Fancourt and Pearl, but we always got a Sandbag automatically hired. Because it's not about the 15 edge. The plaid is just small.

Beautiful place with beautiful surroundings

A fantastic golf course, which is even more challenging with some wind. Overall a very interesting course, with fair layout, but still challenging. Even the relatively simple sounding tracks 6,7 and 8 have it in them, especially if the game is a little wind. A nice change is track 13 Now, as you (except of red) from the middle tees in the water. On the clubhouse terrace almost to the halfway break passes quickly and one looks forward to the glass of wine after the round. The place was (Dec 2012/Jan 2013) in very good condition, with the greens could still be a little faster... Definitely worth a round!
