Walton Heath is located in the vastness of the English heathland just outside London!
Old Course:
The course is unreal, relatively open and set in the unique landscape! From the 3rd or 4th hole onwards, in bright sunshine, an open feeling emerges. Walton Heath, with its open heathland fairways, is reminiscent of great links golf, and it plays like one too! At times, watching TV, I felt like I was at Shinnecock Hills Golf Course or Oakmont Country Club! It was a dream to play on the 1981 Ryder Cup Course! It was truly a great experience!
New Course:
Herbert Fowler built the New Course on the site a few years after the Old Course was built. The New Course is therefore only slightly lower than the Old Course. Like its older brother, it also features massive bunkers, one even with a 3.5-meter-high sod wall leading to the green!
We opted for a 36-hole day, which makes the green fee a little more affordable (buggies are allowed)!
But Walton Heath is worth every penny! The huge clubhouse is like a golf history gallery!
James Braid in oil, the former pro and 5-time Open winner, appears on every corner (his pro house is still preserved in its original form)!
Winston Churchill was a member of Walton Heath.
Great place and the staff very, very friendly and attentive!
Walton Heath,
