During a trip to California I took the time to tick off another course from my bucket list and dug deep into my pocket for the USD 200 green fee. It is the very discriminatory business model of US golf courses ripping off tourists, but that is a topic for a different platform I suppose.
TPC Harding Park delivers what a golfer can expect from one of the TPC courses. Long fairways with bordering and penalizing rough (not Major style though but still difficult), and on top of all things, wind, wind and more wind. I was paired with two locals how play the course weekly and that helped a lot. The layout is very interesting and challening at times so one must know where to lay up.
The course offers magnificent views of the surroundings - in particular the Olympic Club just across from Lake Merced - impossible to book for the ordinary golfer.
Like on my US courses the training facilities don't stand up to the quality of what is standard in Central Europe but you don't go there to spend time on the range but on the truly remarkable course.
Definitley worth playing if you want to test your golf.

Beautiful and geppflegter PaklandCourse middle of the city.
Lanes 10 to 13 along the road, otherwise relatively quiet. Faires but varied layout. The greens were not too fast, so a little abgemildeter TPC Course. Non Residents from $ 100
