... a star deduction for care and maintenance
At first glance, this course reminds us very much of Le Robine - Italy. A golf course in a large terrain, here originally the largest lake in California.
It's a links course the way it was built. The sand is omnipresent, driven by the wind over the course. The food comes from the many bunkers, the Wasteaeres and the uncovered parcels outside the course.
It's a very good and very demanding course - especially the back tees - even if the balls rolled forever. You can go full throttle with the driver, if it works properly it is a treat. He becomes difficult second stroke, the ground is rock hard, hardly any grass.
The greens are good, very fast.
Today and 2014 we were disappointed by the sight of the course, very little green space. The clubhouse terrace did not look that great. They not only fight with the wind that brings the sand, they also fight with the dryness.
A great clubhouse with good service makes up for the not so good score.
