We have - in almost 30 years - played well over 100 courses in Florida - many very good ones - this one is in our list in the top 5.
A course that is one of the top 100 in Florida, easily in the middle, rightly so in our opinion.
We asked ourselves the question: "Who copied who, Jack Nicklaus Steve Smyers or vice versa?"
Immediately our rounds in Le Robinie (Italy) or Corkscrew (Florida) were both recalled from memory by Jack Nicklaus, but even more so the two World Woods (Florida) by Tom Fazio, also courses with an extremely large number of bunkers and corresponding earth movements, but this one here easily surpasses this.
The number of bunkers is impressive - 172 according to the information - the dimensions even more - they are real monsters in size and depth. In order to overcome this from the back tees, nothing goes below a carry of 200 meters, even from White it is still challenging - they are very easy to play.
The topography is almost mountainous for Florida - decent height differences on the holes. All par 3s are downhill...
It's a fair bit of work, with seven par 4s of more than 400 yards and two par 3s of more than 200 yards - back tees.

Steve Smyers has designed a few gems, no wonder he's a champion of the styles of HS Colt, AW Tillinhast, Donal Ross and Pete Dye - a friend and mentor. He also worked in Europe, helping to shape the Evian Golf Resort (F).
