Sth Meath is a surprise

For those who think that Sth Meath is an easy golf course to play a "walk in the park" experience so to speak,, well a big surprise awaits them. Holes 7 and 8 are the "holes from hell" on this parkland layout and have been jokingly nicknamed "amen corner". and with very good cause. I have now lost track of the number of golf balls that have departed from my 5 wood, on hole no 8, and found a resting place in one of the water hazards surrounding the hole. The number is in double figures. I often say "sayonara" and "slán leat" to my golf ball before hitting it on holes 7 and 8.. I believe that titleist should open up a shop there because they would be sold out of golf balls in a short space of time. Hole no 11 is no pushover either and the same can be said for many of the holes on this beautiful. However the friendlieness of the members and the helpfulness of the staff more than make up for all the above. Captain, Don Costelloe, doesen't seem to have a home because he is always out on the course doing all the stuff that helps to keep the show on the road. The boos is a man named Paul seems to not have a home either as he is on the golf course before 8am every morning. Finally may I say that you underestimate South Meath golf course at your peril.
