Challenging but still an excellent course.
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 19, 2023
Played mid September 2023. Tuesday mid day tee time, course almost to ourselves!
Typical Trent Jones design but still a fair challenge of golf even for higher handicappers like me. Its not cheap but it is worth the green fee. The country side that surrounds is spectacular. The club house, service and staff are of an equally high standard. I intend returning to play jt again.
Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent course in very good condition. Requires thinking to get around rather than just a bash. Staff very helpful. Excellent restaurant and service

Typical Robert Trend Jones Jr. Place
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed May 9, 2024
The course is very similar to other RTJ courses in Europe. However, the green fee is significantly lower. We played the course after heavy rainfall, so the course conditions were extremely wet. This also affected the bunkers. Overall, the course is designed more for golf carts and not for playing on foot. The paths are significantly long.

Great landscape
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed April 28, 2024
A beautifully laid out course in itself. Too expensive without Golfamore, however. We asked by email and were confirmed, but still no discount on the weekend! The fairways are well maintained, but unfortunately the many bunkers are not at all. Many greens are bumpy and do not follow the course. The way the visitors play is a bit chaotic. You suddenly have a new flight in front of you or you are dangerously outplayed out of nowhere. Many people skip the tough and quite demanding holes 11/12/13/14. Unfortunately we could not stay overnight in the very large car park and the restaurant was closed from 3 p.m. All in all, this would be a great course.

Generous space
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed May 12, 2023
The course, which is bursting with wide fairways, spacious tee boxes and great course maintenance, unfortunately has a small flaw and this is, in my opinion, the lack of individuality.
The championship course is really great, the greens are great, but there is something missing.
No tree or shrub hinders the flow of the game, but there are a number of bunkers. The previous criticisms regarding the bunkers are only partially understandable, yes they were quite damp, but there was also a lot of rain in the previous days. Bunkers are part of the course, as are ditches and water hazards.
I found the place to be successful overall, maybe trees and bushes will be planted, then definitely 5 stars!

Fantastic place
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 30, 2022
Incredibly beautiful design that has been conjured up here in the hilly landscape of Tuscany. The clubhouse towers over the square and can be admired from many places. Proud price but the place is worth it. Was incredibly fun. Gladly again.

Top!
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed May 28, 2022
Royal la Bagnaia, lies openly in a large, very wide valley.
If the grass then turns yellow between the lanes, it is certainly optically even more beautiful! Typical RTJ II design, many bunkers, good length and still pure fun!
The lanes "dream" to themselves, the fee is decent, with Golfhäftet 50% less!
The Inland Course doesn't have a weak track, but the 16,17,18 are optical treats!
If you have a good length and hit the lanes, you can score really well!!!
The care on the entire facility was completely impeccable!
The distances are sometimes extremely long, at 35 degrees, the cars were a very worthwhile investment :-)
The clubhouse (service and kitchen manageable, but you try very hard!) is one of the most luxurious and stylish things I've seen in southern Europe!
Every detour is worth it!!!
Absolute top place!

Ok
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed May 26, 2022
Very modern golf course, huge tees, wide fairways, absolutely no planting. Very extensive, unspectacular and not really difficult to play. The driver can be used on any par 4 or 5 (230 meter carry). Clubhouse huge but "unused". All kind of empty. Bunker in disastrous condition. Since this has been the case for years according to the other reviews, one can assume that this is part of the "concept". No must play. But if you are in the region, why not.

Beautiful expansive golf course
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 22, 2021
We have space for three days in a row between 30.09. and October 2nd, 2021. The reception was very friendly and helpful. The driving range and tee 1 are very far apart, and the distances are sometimes very long. Better rent a cart in the heat. Exciting and varied place, with high athletic demands. Tee boxes, fairways, greens: everything is well maintained. When we played the bunker sand was still heavy due to heavy rain two days before, but it could be mobilized with a sand or lob wedge. Overall very nice golf course, it is worth the detour.

Fantastic place, bunker really bad
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 3, 2021
Actually, the place deserves 5 stars. The most beautiful tee boxes I've ever seen on an Italian golf course, perfectly manicured fairways and greens, clubhouse and reception very nice. The layout is sensational. If it weren't for the fact that all bunkers are completely neglected in terms of maintenance. The bunkers look like dried out mud holes in the Serengeti. If at least they were pegged blue...

Actually super exciting...
2.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 13, 2020
Exciting and very beautiful place but unfortunately we don't find any understanding for the neglected muddy clay holes that could once close to bunkers. So we were able to make out about 5 bunkers that were barely playable. For this price better not anymore... reception and reception super nice and helpful... greens and t-box perfect-fairway partly a bit swampy... bar and service very nice and hard-working... but no big deal.

Nice view, good space, bunker...
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 7, 2020
We played the course in October 2020 on a sunny autumn day. Since the start times are not kept, there were quite a few traffic jams. Then the mix between players who drive in the cart and those who walk is not ideal. Traffic jams are inevitable. The course / fairways and greens were in good condition. The approx. 70 bunkers are in no way sufficient. It was not possible to play from any bunker. Some of the bunkers were still filled with water, the others so clay that the ball got stuck in the handlebar. The reception at the reception was very pleasant. The restaurant more like this than la la.

Super maintained
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 4, 2020
Like every year, also played again in September 2020. The place is varied, exciting and very well maintained. The green fee is still very high. If you include the experience in the clubhouse, you can only describe the shop as a pharmacy. For years, no matter who is running the shop, there was and there is no service there, nothing on the wine list and nothing on the menu. HILTON has been named as the operator for some time. In any case, this is not an advertisement for the company. As a result, there are no guests there either. I tried again anyway, got up and had something to myself at the next gas station.

Played here on July 9th. Very nice clubhouse, very nice surroundings. Little water hazards. Can be played well. When balls run out they are difficult to find in the “rough”. Cart is absolutely enpfolen in the sun. Got 50% discount easily with the golf card. Very few players during the week. Highly recommended!

Great Place
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed April 26, 2019
So I can not understand the bad rating. Well the bunkers are actually in a bad state and partly not playable, but only because of these sand holes to make up the place I find unfair. The tracks are otherwise in good and the greens top condition. In the summer I would avoid the place because zero shade or trees. The driving range and practice area also very generous and well maintained. I like to come back

A Robert Trent Jones always has a lot of bunkers. In this place they are in a miserable condition. Partly no sand and the film is normally covered with sand, has already burst due to the heat.
For this, since it must be a permanent state, the place is clearly too expensive!
You can take your time if you want to go to the square, as this is not frequented.

Great place. Well-maintained greens and challenging fairways. The clubhouse is also a sensation. Why we were almost alone in the square, I can only explain myself by the somewhat secluded location. The cart was a good decision. If we're around, we'll come back for sure.

3.0 of 5 starsReviewed July 15, 2017
Stayed in July 17 here, in wind even in the heat to play, place empty!
Beautiful design, interesting to play.
Bad are the bunker, wet and marshy, that is not at all and does not fit the other quality.
Closed at 20:00 in the summer?
But we were all alone

The place is very nicely laid out and well maintained. Tee-offs, fairways, bunkers, greens, everything fine. The place is very long and hilly. An E-Cart is recommended since the transitions are partly very long. Friendly staff. Gladly again.

Why so negative!
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 25, 2016
Did the end of June on Saturday played, place great and varied - and especially in top condition, fairways and greens. Virtually no other golfer and yawning in the clubhouse emptiness. We did not bother. Unfortunately, at that time built villas seem to be never made, hopefully the place will still continue to operate, good luck!

The golf course is suffering - hence you are also lonely place - it's hot in the sun
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed June 22, 2015
Sorry - I can abgewinnen the previously mentioned positive aspects from the golf course La Bagnaia little - even if the architect famous, but from the old 9 hole has not become a great 18 hole course. On the contrary - it has not been able to build a Golfspielfluß.
After the first 3 Hole follow 3 hole of forced conditioning - first a par 4 with one-sided on the left side of the fairway steep slope to the reservoir for turnovers, then a par 3 with secluded from the tee Green on ridge, the green for the player in dubbing not hedged Surrounded by Rough; then a par 4 hineingekünstelt - the tee into nothingness. Hole 8 ends with arbitrary left-hander on the Green; 9 and 10 boring straight uphill and down hills.
Interesting and challenging, however, the hole 11 to 17.
The place unfortunately ending with a hole 18 type Hollywood - only long and somehow the hill to the clubhouse up.
The clubhouse impressive - probably to cover the over-priced green fees and intimidate the green fee players a little. Played have fewer - 10 to 15 car in the parking lot shows the frequency. No wonder - the place, not a single tree or tall shrub, not a natural shade - in summer unplayable hot, the long distances in particular from 10 to 11 and at the end of the 18 up recommend the Cart.
Finally, it must be noted: when I was playing, there was no playable bunker, there was washed out all the sand out of the rain. During posting of € 100.00 greenfee but was of no talk, no evidence, nothing pure After the round the Lord Director of the plant confronted with it was not even the Lord director an apology worth - probably a reflection of the self overestimated "Royal" in name, The place in this form is not recommended.

Whether a place is nice, is probably more a matter of taste, definitely it is a good golf course, albeit with a somewhat very flamboyant ambience - especially in the clubhouse. Less royality and a bit more quality and than it fits.

Place...

... We liked, but we played in early May and it was not hot. There are no trees, so I can imagine that he is to play no later than mid-May at higher temperatures exhausting.
We had our game after 11 Cancel hole due to a storm and are in the pouring rain all the way back to the clubhouse, Marshall was no way that would be extended in time. There are a few people on the go, so comfortable to play. To our request for replacement of the unplayed holes was investigated very hesitant and after much back and forth we got a green fee voucher for 9 holes. The remaining 9 we had to pay for the second time, however, with increased green fee. Here again it was a discussion, the Secretariat must everything be back talking to the manager, who does not seem to be there though.
Very negative the restaurant: the first visit there was a Capucciono, did not deserve the name, the only guests we have disturbed the bored waiter when calling.
Our second visit: the only guests, nice waitress, cappuccino was beautiful, the cake has to be ordered unfortunately gives us a sleepless night and a not so pleasant the next day.
Apparently we Tuscany now discovered as a golf destination and also this is a hotel with associated landscaped place for tourists and for us there is definitely nicer places with associated infrastructure.
Finally, one is indeed on vacation and want to enjoy the "other stuff" too.
It also locked at 18 clock 30 - we have never seen in a golf club.

All alone on the court

Review Royal Golf la Bagnaia
The Royal Golf is a beautiful, open and generous space link. When knocking on the usually slightly elevated tee the players already expect the first of many bunkers in sight distance. The fairways are wide but partly hidden by green waves of grass bunkers. Some lakes enhance the game requirements. The roughs are very sparse and have an open structure. The greens are well protected mainly by wavy Vorgreens or by well placed bunkers around the green.
The site is located on a slope, is very open and has little shade. The clubhouse has a large restaurant and a terrace with wonderful views of the Tuscan hills and the golf course. In the area of the club house it has a nice driving range (up to 250 m.) With an excellent, large chipping area and putting green Club began operations in the summer of 2011, he is little known and it has few golfers on the course (as at end April 2012). The staff is inexperienced but very helpful.
Green fee between 90 and 110 euros. Carts are available. Hapimag members have discount when pre-booked.
