Beautiful short 18 holes

Played a nice round of golf mid April and the weather was perfect. The golf is shorter than other courses but beautiful and quite challenging with water and narrow fairways.

An exceptional venue, where the Front Nine are particularly outstanding.
On the map, some holes, especially the par 5s at the beginning, look rather short, but because the stream often has to be crossed again just before the green, it is usually not possible to play it safely from a greater distance and it is better to lay up.
We played the course in November 2025 as an early bird for €118. This required some price comparison between different providers, but even at the €127 charged for booking directly with the resort online, this early bird price is a bargain. During the absolute off-season, from the end of November to the end of January, prices drop even further.
The restaurant's terrace overlooks the valley through which the front nine winds, evoking memories of a great round, but also of some lost balls.

At €187 per pitch, one can expect a top-notch venue from start to finish, offering a certain level of sporting excellence and quality. This is only partially the case here.
The first nine holes are quite challenging and feature various obstacles (water, ditches, bushes). The second nine are easier and less prone to obstacles.
What bothers me is that a golf course is designed in such a way that it can't be played on foot. In Ombria, the distances between the holes are currently several hundred meters. You can't keep up on foot, and the management forbids playing the course without an electric cart anyway.
The fairways were in good condition. The greens were a bit battered but still playable, quite large, and heavily undulating. The sand bunkers (large and numerous) look great, but are practically unplayable; soft sand, at most 2 cm deep, with a rock-hard base underneath. That's unacceptable.
The 19th hole is rather uninviting, anything but a cozy restaurant. The food is good, but the prices are very high.

The reception was very friendly. The condition of the course and the greens were impeccable.
The first 9 holes are really spectacular - many tee shots from high up, doglegs several times over water etc., great views of the river valley.
The second nine holes are noticeably less challenging, including in terms of scenery, and are partly interchangeable and ideal for fans of lots of slopes!
There is now a terrace, but they probably want to underline that a 5* destination is planned here - 16.50 EUR for an Aperol Spritz is at least borderline!!!

The self-promotion "where we truly play the land" is implemented quite perfectly and the tracks are wonderfully integrated into the landscape.
Four tees, some of which are very elevated, on the first 5 holes, the front nine is very compact, which unfortunately also results in waiting times.
The back nine is a bit more spacious and, in my opinion and that of my Portuguese flight partners, the design is very atypical for the Algarve.
So far I have almost only played something like the 18 in the Alps, steeply downhill, dog leg left, the green cannot be seen, but playable.
The staff was very friendly, you were picked up from the parking lot and taken to the current reception. According to the email, the restaurant did not yet have official approval, but there was a food truck.
I'm excited to see what it looks like when everything is finished. Gladly again.

Played for the first time today. Clubhouse still unfinished. Signs are missing. No distance posts on the fairway, the course is not rated yet, so distances had to be guessed. Overall it is beautifully situated in the hills. Buggy is mandatory. It would be difficult on foot. I usually always run. But it's quite playable and you'll be smarter the second time you visit.
