A noisy little gem!

If you can divert your attention from threnoisy jets flying over every 10 minutes you will not be disappointed in this seaside links. The club house is welcoming (despite having a funeral in the lounge!) and has superb views and the fish and chips for lunch was memorable.
However the best awaits you on the course. There are two courses (old and new!) we played the old and were never far from the sea. There are occasions when the other course comes close but in general we were not disturbed. The natural flow of holes is superb and the course was in excellent condition. The holes were varied and interesting with typical links greens like ice. The 18th was superb protected by elevation and deep bunkers. It certainly stands comparison with the other links courses in the area and was good value.
We had dinner in the club house and once again the food was really well cooked (by this time the bridge club had replaced the funeral and was only a little noisier!). Excellent value.

Although the New Course 1979 by the Open Champion Sir Henry Cotton was expanded to 18 holes, we found the design as a whole rather straightforward, to say moderate. The tracks run partly parallel to the Old Course, are shorter overall, but much closer. The hard hitting fairways and small, well-manicured greens are framed by a wall of gorse bushes. Search ball is futile. Even links golf purists should here soon reach the limits of their endurance. If you find this to difficulties not enough, the place should definitely play weekday. For then you will additionally benefit from the infernal Lärmes takeoff and landing jets forming from the immediately adjoining the place Air Base of the Royal Air Force. Overall, the round has left a rather indifferent impression. Links golf was exciting.

First I played the New Course. This links course is not overly long, but has some very grandiose holes. Especially hole 10, a short par 4, tee of the dune is gorgeous.
The course is from 3maligen Open champion Henry Cotton designed.
The condition of the fairways is average, the greens were very good.
The Royal Air Force takes off and lands directly beyond the golf course, even the landing lights are partially integrated into the golf course. So for combat aircraft fanatics an absolute highlight. For players who like more quiet we recommend the weekend!
