Good facility but no one there in winter

Played on March 9th, 2025. The 18 fairways and the attached hotel are located directly on the Baltic Sea in the northeast of the island of Rügen on the edge of the Jasmund National Park, separated only by a strip of forest. You can't see the Baltic Sea, but you can feel the wind from the sea, sometimes even very clearly. A navigation device can't hurt to find the facility; there are no major signs to the facility/hotel. You drive through a small new development and then through the gate up the driveway to the castle hotel or park below in the guest parking lot. The striking tower of the castle can also be seen from many places on the course. There is a reception, a restaurant and also an event area. Up in front of the pro shop and reception, a sign shows the way to the 1st tee. The path goes past the guest houses to the starter house. In winter, it's good to know your way around! When I visited, the entire facility, including the entire hotel, was still in winter mode, despite the best sunny weather at the weekend. A sign indicated that no one would be present in person until March 14th. When I called a few days before my round to ask about the next weekend's play schedule, I would have been happy to be told that no one was there. Luckily, I met another guest player who was also there for the first time and had since found out that you can book tee times online via the website, which unfortunately doesn't provide any information about winter play schedule, and pay by credit card. No sooner said than done, and off we went for a round for €40. The two of us were the only players that morning. It wasn't until hole 10 that we saw five other players. So there was no sign of crowds. It's questionable whether you need tee times here in summer. The course is very open and hardly overgrown. There are visual tee boards on the holes for information. There are almost no trees on the course, however, and the rough was mown short. So the most you lose balls is in one of the water hazards, which are only a few of them. The course has a bit of a links course feel to it. You should always take the wind into account. On hole 16 (PAR5) at over 500 meters and with a headwind, you do need a few more strokes. Neither I nor my teammate understand why hole 15 is rated as the most difficult hole. With a tailwind, straight ahead, slightly diagonal, it's actually not a problem. The two PAR3 holes 12 and 17, where you go over water onto the green, are also small challenges. There are some slightly elevated tees, for example directly at hole 1, hole 10 and hole 12. There are also some discreetly placed bunkers, which can be easily played around or over. The water hazard in front of the green on hole 6 (PAR5) may also be challenging. Most of the holes are relatively straight or have slight doglegs. It shouldn't be a big problem for higher HCs to master the course. The disadvantage of winter play was that the condition was not necessarily the best. The summer tees were open, but they were not in good condition. You sometimes had to collect the tee balls and put them back in the ground. The fairways were relatively dry, but not yet mown, and the bunkers had unfortunately not been prepared. Some summer greens had been set, but these were not in good condition either, often with large holes and covered in piles of earth and rabbit droppings. Most were winter greens, set in the front green directly in front of the greens, but not mown there at all. We still had fun and saw it as a paid stroll. There is also a practice area with a few short courses. I did not go to the driving range, if there is one. It was a shame that there was no information on the website about the current winter situation, that there was really no one there and there wasn't even a scorecard anywhere. There were just brochures about how nice it can be in the hotel and restaurant in summer. There are no open toilets either, or they are secured with door codes that guests don't have. At least there were trolleys available. You should come back in the summer, when the course will hopefully be in top condition and then perhaps worth the sporty €85 green fee.
