Nestling in the scenic landscape between the Harz Mountains and the Magdeburger Börde, the first 18-hole golf course of Saxony-Anhalt is situated on the eastern foothills of the Harz Mountains above the romantic Selketal valley. Framed by lush meadows and fields on one side and picturesque green-leaved forests on the other side, the course was designed for a fast game. 18 water hazards with a total surface of 12,000 sq yds were set up on a terrain of 170 acres.

Nice place - but needs more care

I'm having a hard time with the stars here...
Very nice location in the hilly foothills of the Harz, lots of blind shots, a bit of water, and quite uphill on the back nine. Actually a course with a lot of potential, so I'll give it a four.
However, the roughs and bunkers were not in the condition you would expect. This didn't bother you too much on the first nine, but when it got hilly it really had an impact on the game.
One can only hope that with the reopening of the castle hotel, more players will come again and that more resources can then be invested in its care.

I played the course twice during the lockdown in April 2021 on my vacation in the Harz model region. There was very little going on, just come by and tee off was the motto on the phone. And so it was. Reception was nice. It is certainly not an exclusive golf club, but I like it a lot, the focus here is on the sport. I was greeted by the best weather, I even managed to get home with a good sunburn, and that in April.
The place was in good shape. Wild boars had rioted in some places, but the lawn was mowed well, the greens were spotless, the signs were OK. The first 9 lanes are quite at ground level. The second 9 then go over some strenuous hills (after all, Harz is here too) and there are some blind spots that challenged me quite a bit on the first lap. Another difficulty is often an end at the track borders, the balls are then definitely gone because it has an electric fence for wildlife protection.
I definitely had a few balls less but also two nice rounds. Once I was held up by a very slow-playing senior citizen who made no move to let me by and still preferred to fish balls on every lane. For the first time in my golf life, I had to play a provocative ball up close to make myself heard. But these are snapshots and can happen anywhere.
This place is a recommendation if you are in the region and was worth the 30 km drive each way.
