Wonderful Views of the Südschwartzwald
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed July 11, 2013
I played Kandern on a late Summer afternoon this week. In spite of the beautiful weather the golf course was quiet and very peaceful. The golf course is quite hilly with wonderful views of the surrounding Südschwarzwald from a number of tees.
The course was in great condition and provides a good strategic challenge, with shots from all kind of lies -uphill, downhill, sidehill - this course has them all. The green surfaces are fairly slick and in great condition with tricky and sometimes quite severe breaks - again a good challenge.
The staff were very friendly and welcoming and I enjoyed a great salad and glass of local wine in the restaurant after the round. All in all a great golfing experience!

Great facility
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed April 29, 2025
A superbly maintained golf course with several difficult holes that require precise game tactics. Furthermore, the terrain is challenging, demanding even for moderately fit players, and may require the use of a cart for first-time rounds. The only drawback on May 28,2025, was the incredibly slow greens, in my opinion, but that's probably a matter of opinion or taste.
I must emphasize the incredible friendliness and courtesy of the staff at the club office. I've never had a bad experience, but this was exceptional – thank you again.

Simply a beautiful place
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed April 27, 2024
I have been a member for 2 years and have enjoyed playing the course often before. The course is always superbly maintained, which is the most important thing for me on a golf course. The layout is varied and fun. The course requires some fitness and an electric trolley is certainly helpful, but it is not too hilly for my taste. You can definitely learn to play good golf here, even on slopes. The staff and members are very friendly, I feel very comfortable here and am very happy to be a member here in Kandern.

Just had a good experience
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed July 18, 2021
Previous reviews report:
Big differences in altitude -> hilly, yes, but definitely not a goat place
Permanent inclines -> Occasionally yes, but everything is OK
Unfriendly members / employees -> Not at all, everything was wonderful
I found the place exciting, in good condition and worth a visit at any time.

Variety desired

The place I play for a long time and always meet a very well maintained place. The course offers everything and is well embedded in the valley. On foot, the course is a small challenge, in the game, the stand is almost never even.
The clubhouse and restaurant is nice and good.

Very worthwhile; Mileage high

Wonderful place in a top condition. He is stuck with many meters of altitude, but always creates great prospects. Tees, fairways and greens were in very good condition across all lanes. Disadvantage are the long ways between the tracks... you get on his kilometers. Service and food in the clubhouse were good. Will definitely come back to play.

Nice and very demanding, as a guest not really welcome
2.0 of 5 starsReviewed August 19, 2017
We often play the pitch, in smaller and larger groups. The course is a physical requirement, especially at high temperatures. Unfortunately one feels as a guest not really welcome. Club members and officials are permanently moaned. On alleged (sometimes also made) errors resp. Wrong behavior. (Is there only in Kandern). At least the people at the secretariat are friendly and helpful. Nevertheless, a place that is not a joy and which we will avoid in the future.

11th - 18th hole well...
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed July 11, 2017
The first holes are interesting in terms of landscape and golf, but the second half of the course is not really great...
Golfers who have trouble with fitness should hire a buggy. Too bad that you can book no tee-off times and the journey from Switzerland is with the tense traffic situation around Basel rather tedious.

Great place
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed July 25, 2016
A top-kept place with perfect greens, this is the one.
The other is a President greets only the own club members and guests give no importance.
Too bad, that makes the good overall but a little inconsistent.
Conclusion. play, eat and drink indeed. the rest rather not

Beautiful Course
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed September 8, 2013
A very well-kept course in a beautiful setting. I recommend an e-trolley for 18 holes. The course is very hilly and therefore an e-trolly is helpful. The fairways are both narrow and broadly construed. It is not on the ground level and teas on the fairways mostly. The greens are varied and diversified. The green fee is too high for this kind of mining and Talcourse.

Good, well-maintained lawn
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed July 8, 2013
We both have 10 HCP place in glorious weather on 8.7. Played 13th The course was in excellent condition, white, soft sand in the bunkers, fairways class without dandelions and fast, very ondolierte greens. The paths between the tracks are partially a little long. We would play at any time. The only negative was that the restaurant was closed on Monday. 80 euros for a Monday Gf are also at the upper end of the tolerance limit. However, it is daily green fee. (To create rather not multiply without Cart partly because of the steep climbs)

Goats Place
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed August 19, 2012
We played at the invitation Kandern: there are some oddities. The driving range, for example, are played by both sides, but with the restriction that no timbers may be played from the top...
Friendly and uncomplicated Secretariat. Good infrastructure of the club house. However, no lockers for guests: pity.
The golf course is a real "space goats": a lot of up and down. That could have been better designed. So make sure motor trolley or take Elektrogolfcart!
Portion of long paths between holes: getting used to.
The plant is to play otherwise quite amusing and interesting. Quite challenging because of the nearly constant slopes.
All in all, not the most pleasant or most special place in the area of Basel. There is much more beautiful. And those who already "goats courts" may be the more Rickenbach north of Säckingen recommended.
So we will not play again so quickly in Kandern.

Beautiful and challenging
5.0 of 5 starsReviewed October 31, 2011
We handicap. 13 + 17, have the space on 27 October 2011 played. The course was in very good condition. For us it has been the most rigorous physical space. The up and down pretty hard on the condition and the multiple long distances between green and next tee are not to be underestimated. A golf car is recommended. The place offers a lot of variety, beautiful water hazards and large bunkers. But thanks to wide fairways, he forgives times less accurate punches.
