Money was invested, the course was expanded and remodeled. Some things have also been improved, for example, the paths between the tracks, even though they are exceptionally long.
The lady at reception wasn't having the best day, which is why our friends didn't get a great welcome. If you want to know where the fairway is when teeing off on the new holes, you've come to the wrong place. Okay, we're used to that from links courses in Scotland and Ireland, but in Lilienthal the grass on some of the fairways was so long that you couldn't see the ball. Pin positions on the greens are unfortunately not displayed either. The greens were interesting and in good condition. Some of them don't have run-off areas, though. If you miss these greens by a meter or two, the ball bounces straight out of bounds. Overall, the back nine was in much better condition.
Conclusion: if you're already in the area, there are half a dozen golf courses within a 20 km radius where you'll get more fun for your money.

The golf course was expanded a few years ago to 18 holes, adding seven in a modern, links-biased style. Slightly undulating fairways, abundant bunkers, and typical rough create the rugged links look. The 11 "older" holes are somewhat shorter in places, but quite narrow, requiring precise play. The two distinct characteristics definitely keep things interesting.
In the restaurant you can sit very nicely in a modern ambience and on the terrace you can also sit very nicely with a view over the entire 18th hole.
We visited with our motorhome and stayed in the parking lot overnight in a very quiet location.

We played the course in mid-April 2023. First of all: Staff and members are all very friendly. Lots of busy hands that brought the golf course into shape. Right at the beginning the "new" lanes 2-8 designed by Christian Althaus. U E. very successful in open terrain. Wind is THE factor here. Otherwise, the same applies here - as for the entire course: if you don't hit the fairway, you can reload. The course consists of tees, fairways, greens, water and lots of red posts that mark the biotopes. On the Althaus Bahnen there are also waste areas and well-placed bunkers with mostly high edges (no flat sandboxes).
Unfortunately, some tracks - sometimes very close - run on a busy country road. While lanes 1-9 of yellow are around 3,000 meters long, lanes 10 - 18 are only around 2,500 meters. Including 3 par 3 lanes in a row. All in all an unusual combination.
Friends of manicured fairways are out of place here. Nature prevails here. Solid golf experience with no notable highlights with the exception of the Althaus Bahnen. Practice area adapts to the entire facility. Putting greens, a driving range and a pitching green (not entirely safe) running parallel to hole 9 are available.

Beautiful golf round

Yesterday we played the course in beautiful clear autumn air. Starting with the new nine holes by Christian Althaus: a typical links course with tricky obstacles and long lanes. The second nine holes offer a completely different picture: shorter, somewhat unspectacular holes, but still very nice to play. The maintenance condition was very good, especially for the rainy autumn time, especially the greens in top condition.
Then a piece of self-baked cake in the clubhouse at very fair prices and a good down-to-earth atmosphere (cappuccino, tea and 3 pieces of cake for € 12.20).
What was very positive: everyone was incredibly open and very friendly, spoke to us without asking if they could help us. We felt immediately welcome.
Small point of criticism: we found 3 € for 20 balls on the range quite expensive. In addition, the place is not so easy to find with the navigation system, 2-3 signs in the place would certainly be helpful.

We were early in the week in Lilienthal. The staff is very nice and tried, the court rather not.
