Characteristics
An 18-hole championship course arose here, only a few kilometres away from Gera. Fifteen holes are playable. It is situated in an idyllic foothill landscape. Worth mentioning is especially the driving range and the training facility. You can look forward to a spacious clubhouse with reception area and restaurant.

Surprisingly and unexpectedly good

That was the 9th and last round of golf on our camper tour - and since we were tempted to go to Weimarer Land, but read here that a lot of places are closed there due to the presence of the English national team and campers are less welcome, Gera was a spontaneous alternative with rather low expectations.
We were all the more pleased with how nice and, above all, how friendly we were welcomed there - we arrived in the afternoon and were told in advance, in a very friendly and courteous manner, that we should stand on the lawn because it was quieter there (we met another golfing couple there with a rented camper). In the evening we enjoyed a delicious meal on the sunny (and very picturesque) clubhouse terrace (and here too the service staff were super-super friendly!).
The next day we played the course, the weather was so-so, a few drops of rain fell. The course is fairly flat and relatively wide, but quite tricky to play. Since you can't see exactly where the best approach position for the next shot is on some holes, and the rough borders the fairway well, ball losses are inevitable if the ball is not hit straight.
The wind and light rain made the course much more challenging and interesting than it first appears. I had a pretty "worn" day and left a number of balls there as calling cards - have fun finding them!
After the round, we had an excellent meal and because everything was so cozy, we stayed one more night and spent a nice, wine-filled evening (including football) with our RV neighbors. They were so impressed with the place that they played another round the next day. But we were drawn to home.
CONCLUSION: Gera was great fun, especially the people make it a special gem!

Yes I am biased and yes it is my home club but I just have to write how I like it.
The exercise options: everything you need. Putting green, chipping and pitching also have their space; Driving range also covered = enough space to practice.
Short course: not only suitable for trying out, but also a nice training opportunity for experienced golfers.
Space: suitable for all skill levels and well maintained. Our greens are great!
Team: I like them all!
Gastro: Fiore offers great Italian cuisine and is also worth it when it rains.

In summary, it is noted that this is a nice place that offers some blind strokes (landing zones not visible) and in relation to other golf courses provides a rather unspectacular layout. Since the intermediate routes and the tracks are relatively short, a quick lap is possible, which is also fun thanks to the good (but not above average) care condition.
Positive to note are still the extremely nice members of the club (eg also when playing through or connecting to existing flights).
Less attractive are the changing rooms and sanitary facilities.
Incomprehensible is the fact that on "tournament days" the place was closed all day( specifically: on a morning tournament beginning with less than 40 participants, the place was also locked in the afternoon, "because the organizer has booked the place for the whole day." Should This strange practice would be the rule, a reference in the Internet regarding all-day blocking would be helpful!
