Characteristics
Sotogrande is the home of legendary golf courses and La Reserva Club continues this historic legacy while creating a contemporary experience that defines the area today. Carved into the hillside with natural vistas in every direction, the 18-hole championship course was designed in 2003 by American architect and course designer Cabell B. Robinson. With wide, sweeping fairways that lead on to large greens, gentle but challenging undulations and various water features, La Reserva is a must-play for any golfer visiting Southern Spain.

At La Reserva, you not only get a fantastic golf course—which, incidentally, is also incredibly expensive, but the price is part of the concept. You can also book golf packages with a hotel, for example, at the Albrecht ;)
The lifestyle at La Reserva plays a major role and is thus clearly evident as part of the golf course. The golfers and members here all know each other. You see the money, but no one brags about it. Unless there are drunken Englishmen around.
The golf course is beautiful, superbly maintained, and a joy to play. You can easily walk the course. However, since most people use a cart, you're almost forced to take one as well, which is a shame. The fairways are precisely mown, the greens fast and true. Water comes into play on seven holes – here, tactics count more than length.
What else can I say? The food in the clubhouse is just as upscale as the standard and absolutely delicious.

We received a friendly welcome at the buggy, where we picked up our bags and ball pyramid at the driving range, and there was a well-stocked pro shop. The course was brilliant to play and, for Costa del Golf, wide and inviting. Everything was extremely well-maintained. At least 20 greenkeepers were busy clearing up weather damage in bunkers and fairways without disturbing our flight. The course is hilly without ever appearing steep; apart from the 18th, the signature hole. I have to make one small deduction: because of the heavy rainfall over the last few days, we had to drive the buggy on the paths. Unfortunately, the course isn't built for this, which means that the buggy paths are far away from the fairway and are sometimes separated by bushes. Nevertheless, I would go back anytime.
