Characteristics
Harmonically embedded into old river terraces, which were created by the river Ruhr more than 400,000 years ago, the golf course is situated in the "green belt" of the Stiepel district south of Bochum above the Ruhr reservoir of Kemnad. The undulating terrain demands a lot of skills and a good physical condition from golfers. Numerous slopes, greens surrounded by a skillful setup of bunkers, wet biotopes, open orchard meadows, and an old mixed forest provide for a sportive challenge.

Played as a guest in mid-May 2025. Very well-maintained, fast greens, nice lady in the office. I agree with the other reviews, but I (handicap 11) don't like the layout at all, as I simply don't like hilly courses with hidden landing areas and slopes.
Because of the opposing, narrow fairways and the practice areas close to them, I also consider the course to be dangerous if you don't get the ball where you want it to go.

A very beautiful course with two halves that are almost completely opposite in character. The first nine holes are open and fairly flat, although almost entirely bordered by out-of-bounds, including some long par 4s (#2, #8) that are well bunkered in the drive zone and require precise drives for a good shot to the green. There are three par 5s, two of which are reachable with good drives. The second nine is very short but tricky, very undulating, and with considerable elevation changes (#10,12,18). They require precise tee shots (often with a hybrid; I didn't even use a driver on the second nine!), but they also offer many opportunities. Overall, a very varied, very well-maintained course that is always worth a round. Be sure to always play 18 holes! Also particularly noteworthy is the very friendly staff in the reception and restaurant.

We played the course in September and we liked it a lot.
It was only a 30-minute journey from Essen. Decent exercise opportunities to warm up, space not too full, nice staff and players.
The course itself requires a bit of stamina, sometimes has quite long fairways, slopes and longer connecting paths.
Definitely worth a round.
