Upex golf tour

Good value for money. 1750baht. For caddy buggie and green fees for 27 holes. Played A B and D.
Played D first a tight 9 holes. So good practice for the game on A B. Dry in places, also a very hot day. Caddies very good. Generaly the course could do with a bit of TLC. Having said that it played well, greens varied but all good.

Better at second glance

This course is located northwest of Bangkok in Kanchanaburi. It has the misfortune of being adjacent to the Grand Prix Golf Club, which in my opinion is one of the best courses in Thailand. Accordingly, we were not so impressed on our first visit, but now that we have played both 18-hole Blue Sapphire courses a second time thanks to a fantastically cheap promotional offer, we can appreciate the course much more.

The Canyon Course has some narrow fairways that require strategically considered and precise play. Our caddies (one of whom is a single handicapper himself) were very helpful here. The Ocean Course has water hazards on many fairways - both courses have some tee shots with carry over water in common. Overall, the layouts of both courses pose some tricky challenges, so that you can certainly play some attractive rounds.

It is unusual for Thailand that there are also male caddies. Unfortunately, the condition of the course is not good everywhere. While the greens were in good shape and the fairways were passable, the tees and bunkers were in a bad condition. However, the tees were marked so wide that you could always find a flat spot to tee off.

Grand Prix remains a must for anyone near Kanchanaburi, but don't pass by Blue Sapphire, where you can also play some very entertaining golf.
