We were there in February 2025. Construction work was underway at the roundabout leading to the Al Hamra Gold Club, and the lagoon on hole 18 is being filled with sand for further construction projects. We definitely prefer the scenic scenery of the Al Zorah course in Sharjah. Be careful on weekends! Flights are sent out "until the last drop" until the carts run out at the booked tee time. They also send out flights late at night, and after playing a par 3 at dusk, they simply cut the round short (at the restroom), so you suddenly find yourself with three flights on the same tee. This puts you in a good mood. Therefore, avoid playing on weekends if possible; weekdays are much more relaxed. The greens had a quick 10.1 stimp meters, which was good to play. We still like the course, and if you purchase a 5-green fee package (personal), playing here is still comparatively affordable. On weekdays, we booked the twilight rate and managed to finish the round by sunset; however, hole 18 was already dark and fortunately floodlit. We had an excellent stay – practically just a golf shot away – diagonally across the street at the new Sofitel Al Hamra, which we highly recommend.

Played on March 26,2025. The flat 18-hole golf course (par 72) is located in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah, about 90 kilometers north of Dubai International Airport. The fairways wind through a residential area, and after ten holes, you find yourself at the far end of the course without returning directly to the clubhouse. Those who only want to play nine holes must switch to holes 17 and 18 after the seventh. These can also be played after dark thanks to floodlights. A striking feature of the course is the omnipresent water, which comes into play on many holes. Additionally, several bunkers pose challenges. Despite the fact that the DP World/European Tour takes place here annually, I found the course relatively easy to play—especially if you choose one of the middle or front of the five tee options. Hole 3, where you have to play over water several times, presents a potential challenge. Otherwise, most of the holes are fairly open and largely straight. Overall, the course feels more like a typical resort course. An amusing side note: Some birds aggressively defend their young if you get too close to them in the bunker. There are also long stretches between some tees, so using a cart is recommended. The course was well maintained, though not perfect. The fairways had some dry patches, and some tees were badly worn. The sand in the bunkers was extremely hard, making play difficult. The clubhouse is modern and spacious, with a restaurant displaying pictures of tour-winning players. The reception in the pro shop, as well as by the caddy master and starter, was very friendly – guests are clearly welcome here. Tee times can be easily reserved and paid for via the website, while the usual club fee is paid on-site at the pro shop. An inexpensive sundowner rate is available from 2 p.m. We paid the equivalent of €78 per person, including a cart with GPS, towels, and range balls. Free bottled water is available at every other hole. The driving range is located a little way from the clubhouse. Play was relatively quiet on our day, so the two of us were even able to start 30 minutes before our scheduled tee time—without any pressure from other players. After the round, we stopped at the restaurant, which is apparently popular with non-golfers as well. The food was inexpensive and decent, but nothing special. The service could have been more attentive. A major current drawback is the construction work in the immediate vicinity of the clubhouse, restaurant, and first tee. New buildings are also being built along the 18th hole, although they are only half-finished so far. All in all, a pleasant round of golf at a fair price—assuming you can bear the trip from Dubai. Points are deducted for the construction sites and the hard bunkers.

Easter Saturday was quite busy, but no problem to get a start time at short notice. Taxi from Cove Rotane takes about 15 minutes. 2x green fees including cart and rental clubs for 1,300 AED were ok. The place is quite well maintained and varied. Surprisingly much water around it, but playable for every handicap. Between holes 10 and 11 there is a small milk bar. It's a good place to stock up on drinks and a snack. Definitely a recommendation for golfers who are on vacation here.

We have played 4 x times in the last days there. A lovely place, very well maintained, quiet, beautiful fairways, well maintained and super fast greens. Haircuts immaculate.
