Tanka Golf Villasimius

Via degli Oleandri 4, I-09049 Villasimius (CA), Sardinien, Italy

Characteristics

Tanka Golf Club, a course of rare beauty designed by Luigi Rota Caremoli, one of the most famous Italian designers, is contained in a natural setting, where the smell of salty air mingles with the scents of Mediterranean scrub that grows on the coast of Villasimius called, not surprisingly, Polynesia of the Mediterranean.

The course awarded in 2007 by magazine “ The World of Golf” as best new golf course in Italy, unfolds on a surface of 40 acres overlooking the Marine Protected Area of Capo Carbonara.

The par 70 and the 5418 meters length must not mislead players, imagining it as simple course, to face with superficiality, indeed, technique, precision and concentration are the three musts needed to play the course with the right spirit.

Players can practice in a 12 covered plus 15 uncovered stations driving range and a beautiful putting green, both have an outdoor lighting system, allowing players to challenge each other also at night.

In terms of game, the front 9 holes are a bit difficult and require a good variety of shots but the difficulties are rewarded by the spectacle offered by nature, the back nine are flatter and allow players to take a breath, and have more time to focus on the score

After playing golf, guests can take the opportunity of relaxing in the Spa of the adjacent Tanka Village, or to dedicate themselves to the many recreational activities and sports that the Resort has to offer.

Tanka Golf Villasimius promotes the game of golf all year long; it’s aim is to represent a good offer in the tourism industry in the whole of southern Sardinia. The course is located just an hour from Cagliari airport and is reachable with the panoramic secondary road No. 17, south-east direction or with the new main road No. 125.

One of the most beautiful in europe

I have played hundreds of golfcourses throughout the world, and this is one of the most beautiful. The condition of the course (juli 2017) is very good: lush fairways and fast greens. Also the staff are very friendy. I love to come back.

It's fun and too expensive

I can agree with some of the previous speakers. The place greets you with a simple reception where I was given friendly advice. There is no clubhouse, but there is a changing room. There is a cheap vending machine for drinks and you can also sit there. No restaurant.

Driving range on mats and uphill. There are a few shaded pitches. Nothing great. Putting green ok.

If, like me, you play in mid-June when it's over 30 degrees, you're crazy not to book a cart here. Many and very steep meters in altitude. The ride with the cart was adventurous and more of an enduro race. Did the challenge add something else? On most holes you can get the driver out well if you tee off under 250 meters like me. If you don't hit the fairway, the ball may be gone.

Greens in good condition and surprisingly soft and rather slow. Fairway okay, had a few holes, but is also rather dry here at this time. Don't forget the repellent, some strange critters came by. My favorite hole was the 8 where you have to submit in front of a steep drop off. The Par3s were mostly fun too.

I enjoyed it but it cost me 120 euros. Since you can't actually play here without a cart, that's too much if you want to play more often. That's why the place was almost empty. I think with better prices there would be more going on. I would put together packages like this, green fee and shared buggy around 80, that would certainly be justified and then the golf tourists would come.

The place deserves it. With its view it is really very beautiful.

For sporty golfers!

I played the first 9 holes on 5/30/22 because the back nine are supposed to be less challenging and less spectacular. But the front nine really have it all. Although the course is not long, it is quite tricky for a high handicapper like me (HCP 26). Pretty tight drive (or rather fairway wood) landing zones that cost me a few balls. Several discounts are greatly increased, so you can make beautiful discounts in the valley. But not without first enjoying the really spectacular view. It is best to always have your smartphone at hand. And - if you play like me in the midday sun - definitely (!) use a cart. Without a cart, the course can only be recommended to extremely athletic golfers. But even when driving a cart, you should still be a bit careful here.
The club doesn't have any gastronomy, but it does have a small pro shop and several vending machines. The service was extremely friendly and uncomplicated. Surprisingly, the entrance to the club is not signposted at all, so you can drive past it quickly on the main road.
