Dingy and a little monotonous

Played in early July 2023, HCP 15

A very typical "small" links course, even if you can only look behind the dyke on a few holes to see the sea. Deepest pot bunkers (sometimes with very "tangled" edges), rock-hard, wavy fairways and greens of the same kind, (unfortunately also) many blind shots where the location and further course of the fairways cannot be seen. The rough is also treacherous - from a distance you hope for tall, rather thin grass - but on closer inspection you can often see the impenetrable ground cover, in which it is difficult to find a ball, let alone play it out.

Due to the (probably mostly) prevailing strong wind, it is quite difficult to avoid occasional excursions off the fairways (rough, bunker). You will typically look in vain for larger water hazards – but every now and then there is a ditch across the fairways. Often, unfortunately, hardly visible in advance.

However, there is one good thing when the strong wind rushes over the field: you hardly hear the planes flying in directly over the field, even though they are jetting quite close over the site.

The greens are tricky - extremely fast, very wavy - some real "turtle shells", but very well maintained.

Unfortunately, the condition of the fairways leaves a lot to be desired. There are just too many bare spots there.

There are no long distances between the lanes or "extreme" differences in height - if you don't mind the hard surface, you don't need a cart.

Conclusion: Solid 3 stars, more are not given by the very similar tracks without any highlights worth mentioning and the unkempt condition. (In the "Golf Bear Ranking": 6 out of 10 points.)

Playable links place

Played 10/2019, good condition, friendly welcome and uncomplicated handling. The place is fair, so the good punches will be rewarded as well. Some blind blows, which are also playable by directional markings. The layout is varied and requires different stroke variants. Overall, a good value for money and recommended for lovers of links courses.

Top Links Course

I can only agree with the other reviews. If you want to play Links Golf not far from Dover, you can not miss this place. I played here in September 2019. The fairways were dry but well playable, the greens in top condition. The steady tribal wind has missed the whole then the extra spice. Only blind hole is the third, but the approximate direction is indicated by two directional posts. Rather stop the right or even slightly to the right, especially when the wind blows from the sea. Proshop, clubhouse and staff top and top friendly.

Just top!

Have played the place on a windless day in October. Great links place with 9 holes out and 9 holes pure design. Good condition and very nice staff. Price performance is right.

Links course with tradition

Who wants to play a links course, which was founded in 1888, which is right in Littlestone. Even the green fee was £ 55 with absolutely fine. The course is fair, but by no means easy, fairwais partly narrow and the grass at the edge of the tracks very high. Who scatters automatically loses his balls, looking is usually futile! The holes are arranged so that it can hardly ever be a dangerous situation. One feels almost did not get in the way. The sand bunkers are partly British deep but to act.
The fairways are well maintained, the greens are in excellent condition. The signature hole is the 17, a par 3 from an elevated tee, the green protected by two "attractive" pot bunkers. Overall, it was in June 2014, a fantastic golf day, fed up with in England did not always anticipated sun!
