Iberostar Praia do Forte Golf Club

Rodovia BA 099, Km 56 - Praia do Forte, 48280-000 Mata de São João, Brazil

Characteristics

The newest golf course in Bahia has already become a hit amongst Brazilians and foreign visitors who search for enjoyment in the surroundings of Salvador, the stirring capital city of Bahia. Located 55 kilometers north of Salvador's International Airport, and 20 kilometers from Costa do Sauípe and its golf course, Iberostar Praia do Forte Golf Club is situated in a resort of the Spanish chain Iberostar.

Designed by P.B. Dye, son of golf legend Pete Dye, Iberostar Praia do Forte Golf Club is an authentic links – the lack of trees between fairways and the naturally undulating land, along with its proximity to the sea and the strong and unrelenting wind, leave no doubt about that. However, there is no point in trying to compare it to the Scottish links because, unlike golf’s homeland, in Bahia the sun is consistent and hot.

The three last holes of Iberostar run along the shoreline, ensuring fascinating sights (and even stronger winds, making the play more challenging). To increase the challenge, the sand bunkers designed by P. B. Dye are deep and numerous. For golf fanatics – and this means most of us – hitting the ball into one of those bunkers may be their only contact with sand during their vacation despite the close proximity of the beach.

Brazil is not a country golf, but the course is very good

Have a 5 he package booked as a resort guest: Total price very low. Ca 260 Euro incl cart and club rental. Very nice and competent English speaking club secretary, zuiverlässige caddy master with friendly and unobtrusive service The rental clubs were somewhat antiquated (Titleist 8 he series, old Callaway or Alien Bat). The square in total good condition Greens Note 2, Note 2.5 fairways, tees would be slightly better mowed.
The place is to play from yellow from demanding and not easy because many bunkers and partly large sand other areas come into play, a slice or hook is usually in the scrub away! Therefore ball Search futile. Tip: bring as many balls as these are very expensive in the club. (Warbirdbälle for 6 Euro / piece).
The holes themselves are designed in varied and fair.
My Rating: 4 Brazilian star and again any time!
