Amazing Golfing Experience

Played Sunnenalp several times during the middle to late seventies (1976- and thoroughly enjoyed the course and the hospitality. I played in a golf tournament sponsored by a Strumfhosen firm( ERDE, I believe) which I really enjoyed. As I remember it, there are three par fives either in a row or separated by a par three, but now cannot remember which but at that time the course had no power carts only hand trolleys. I was Managing a US Air Force military course in Wiesbaden Rheinblick at this time and when on vacation, I almost always came to Bavaria, especially to Sunnenalp, Garmisch, Dachau, Strasslach, Feldafing and Starnbert. All were delightful to play and health permitting, I'll be back shortly. Would be interested if anyone can tell me if the three par fives ran consecutively or were separated by one par three hole. Many thanks. If you get the chance, don't miss playing this course, but take a motor cart as the first hole goes straight up the mountain side.

Doesn't quite live up to expectations

As one of the previous speakers said, € 91.00 for the green fee is quite high and then arouses some expectations that the place cannot meet. From my point of view, the course mainly benefits from the sometimes spectacular panorama of the Allgäu Alps.
The fairways themselves are not immediately remembered despite or perhaps because of the panorama and, in my opinion, are not always built harmoniously into the landscape.
Paths between the fairways are sometimes too long but well signposted.
Conclusion: A place that you can play but not a must with regular green fees.

Impressively

I played the course yesterday morning in great weather. Condition of the fairways and greens absolutely great. The greens were sanded - which didn't detract from the fun of the game.
Great place, great weather and then this view - what more could you want.
Due to the topography of the square, the use of carts or e-trolleys is recommended.
Staff very friendly and helpful.
Overall: Highly recommended!

The place is great (actually too demanding for me, but as you know, you grow with your tasks) and everything around it. And the staff super friendly. I will be back for sure.

Well...

With a proud price of € 91.00 for German conditions the expectations are of course high!
If then the fairways - certainly for seasonal reasons - are extremely wet, but the greens dull, then the operator could in my opinion even once think about Greenfeereduzierungen.
For the rest, the course can be run well in spite of some considerable height differences - but if we had been made aware of the many, sometimes very long paths between the greens and the next tees, a golf cart would have been recommended.
Obviously not every Allgäu farmer discovered his heart for golf and the builders had to take the areas that existed - the result was not always successful (and as I said: € 91.00 on a day of the week - then you arouse expectations!) ,

If the Sonnenalp does not follow suit

Very varied design in a great landscape, good care condition despite the dry summer.
Excellent food in the clubhouse.
The place is equal to the better known sister place

Calm - nature - mountains

The natural terrain transitions determine the course of the course and the layout.

It is an interesting - partly - exciting place with neat elevation differences on individual holes.

The holes are usually wide and require the driver, some are better to play with a small wood or long iron. Nevertheless - strong precipitation had an effect - today the Paltz was long, not a free meter. The place was very wet. Even in many bunkers the water could not drain.

The green are mostly weakly ondulated that day a bit slow - soft - but good to play.

Very well maintained place. As usual for pre-alpine places in higher locations, the grass is somewhat strupig.

The condition is demanded - some long ways between the holes and up and down - that goes into the legs.

A beautiful and good golf course with beautiful surroundings - look out over the mountains and the valley - as well as a nice and good clubhouse with nice staff.

We will come back, have an open bill with the place!

Grandiose scenery - interesting layout

It falls one sometimes hard to concentrate on your next shot. Again and again, offer expansive views in the magnificent Allgäu mountains. The Course layout is exciting and fair. The tracks are not too long, but require especially when face-off the greens precise club selection and some great face-off. The greens are in top quality, very fast and putts run exactly on the line. Straight Drives provide always good opportunities with an exact pitch pars or birdies prepare. Gastronomy and Proshop leave nothing to be desired. (Played 07-2015)
