Excellent challenge and facilities

Excellent course in great condition even in November, the club staff were very helpful and the driving range facilities were not only good but free for members and guest a like. I would join if the annual fees weren't too high but then again this is something that can be said about most golf clubs in Germany or at least in the Munich area. I would defintely recommend it to others and will be gladly going back again to play in the future.

We really enjoyed our round at the beginning of summer 2023 and both played our HCPs there. With a little more knowledge of space it might have been even better. We are often smarter afterwards. The first 9 lanes are very pleasing and some are very similar, on the second nine lanes you can scramble up and down a bit. The beautiful course is absolutely quiet and has a varied stock of trees along the fairways, whereby the wood does not necessarily get in the way of our games. The fairways are wide enough. The greens are large, were quite hard due to the weather and therefore faster than expected today. A shorter iron (than normal) was often enough when approaching. We received a very friendly welcome as guests today, and we are also given friendly advice in the pro shop. The large terrace invites you to linger, even if it does not offer a view of hole 18 in GC Starnberg.

I felt good here!
The entire facility is very well maintained, from the tees to the fairways to the greens. There's nothing to complain about. As mentioned in an earlier comment, the course mostly has wide fairways, few natural obstacles or spectacular fairways, and is not really difficult to play. But that's exactly what I liked very much as an average golfer. But that doesn't mean the place is boring. The layout is interesting, varied and no two tracks are the same. There are exciting doglegs, there are steep uphills or a small pond is in the way. The distances from the green to the next tee are short, the signage is exemplary.
The clubhouse terrace invites you to linger, the food was great. It's just a pity that you can only see the driving range from the terrace. I think it is mandatory when building a golf course that you have a view of the 18 from the clubhouse terrace ;-)
Starnberg does not need to hide among the many good places in the Munich area/in Upper Bavaria and is always worth a visit! Full stars from me for a lot of feel-good golf.

A beautiful and good golf course that is very quiet, surrounded by forest and agriculture.
For us a course with obstacles, especially if you want to have par. The holes are on average almost 350 meters long, the par 3s are rather long. Many fairways have bank slopes that let the balls roll in positions that you don't necessarily want. It is only conditionally a driver's seat, trees can also make the landing zone narrow and / or make it difficult to hit the green, small pieces of wood or long irons often fit better here. The greens also create obstacles, because some are very narrow or very short - four of them are step greens, if you are on the wrong side... you can sometimes allude to the same thing again.
The first nine are more pleasant to play - to walk - as the terrain transitions are very moderate, the second nine more strenuous - mountainous - more exciting with sometimes very high greens.
The usually hard and lightning-fast greens create a lot of extra work - today they were really tame.
Care and maintenance is very good and was a little behind today. The heavy thunderstorms around Munich also had an effect here. The course was sometimes wet and deep, the greens soft. The bunkers were difficult to play, the maintenance residue was clearly visible and noticeable. They ruined our scores.
Nice, courteous people make the visit very pleasant, it was great fun.
There are no five stars today, it is largely due to the weather conditions and the associated maintenance backlog.
There are around 50 golf courses within a 50 km radius of Munich, around a dozen of these are among our favorites - Starnberg is one of them.
