Great facility, tree garden ok

The facility itself with the generous access and the modern clubhouse comes close to big places. Something is still missing in terms of ambience, but it is still a successful place.
The front desk staff were great - helpful, friendly and easy going.
Restaurant food was ok to good with typical club golf prices.
Now to the place (Tree Garden):
Wide fairways and still do not make the good quality course particularly difficult - and not particularly interesting. And especially in summer you can reach lengths that you would otherwise hardly dream of. The greens bit very well and were very directional - a pleasure. The overall length is rather short. I, handicap 9 and not the big long hitter, played from white (star) and was practically always in regulation on the green. Exactly, summer golf. The lettering has been criticized several times - rightly so in my opinion. On the other hand, you get a stroke saver for free, in which you can read everything wonderfully. Better labeling would be desirable, yes. But with open eyes you can see at the latest on the sign on the tea box whether you are correct or not ;-)
Carry, trolley or buggy? Carrying for the sporty, buggy for the “unsporty” and trolley for everyone else. It has a few height differences...

At the end of August 22 I played the Tree Course as a guest and for the first time.
The place is stingy with nothing.
But from the front: The approach is easy to find, the entrance is stunning, even pompous: the last hundred meters lead through a beautiful avenue to a clubhouse that would do credit to any 5* resort: a light, long, black-looking concrete building and glass, from whose restaurant and from whose balconies you have a wide view over the Rhine valley. The ladies at the reception were friendly and approachable. The condition of tees, fairways and greens was outstanding. (Where do they get all that water from?) In short, as Berliners say: you can't complain.
And yet: orientation on the square is difficult for non-residents. I don't mean the various blind situations, they also belong to a place. No, what increasingly irritated me and affected my attention during the game was that there are no information boards with the number of the hole on the tees. I haven't seen that anywhere before, not in Europe, not in America and not in Asia. That's how I got lost at the end of the 7th and 14th holes. Only the cart paths offer some orientation, but at crossings you are at a loss again. Signposts are rare and sometimes even misleading, e.g. E.g. on lane 15, which is actually lane 17.

We played the FRUIT GARDEN on September 1st. just before noon (11.15). Above all, we found the fairways north of the street (1-8 and 18) to be very attractive. Holes 9-17 probably need some time to become just as appealing (the current very low water level of the ponds didn't help there, but that's due to the drought). For me, as a very mediocre player (27.5), some tee shots over these ponds (I played from «diamond» as recommended by the desk) were a real challenge, but exciting.
Unfortunately, we were accompanied by countless noisy greenkeepers throughout the round. In particular, the many extremely loud leaf blowers were very annoying. The greenkeepers didn't seem to care that golf was also played on the course. The fact that it was obviously a course maintenance day was mentioned neither when making a reservation by phone a few days before nor when paying at the desk. The green fee of €110 was clearly too high for that.

Fruit Garden (Challenge Tour Course) is long and wide and rather easy to play - yet!! As soon as the young trees have grown, this course becomes even more challenging.

We (Hcp 9 + 11) played the Three Garden on April 1st, 2021. The tees are marked with a star, square, rectangle and circle and not with colors. The DR with the 0815 mats somehow doesn't fit the pompous overall system. The tracks are varied in the hilly landscape. There are no boards with the fairway on the tees. The Course Guide is free and very detailed, and without any third-party advertising. We are on the move with handtrolleys, which works well, but should not be underestimated as there is no train without a difference in altitude.

Of all five club golf courses (Sempachersee, Kyburg, Saint Apollinaire), Fruit Garden is perhaps the most fun because it is long, but open and fair. The place is much less hilly than Tree Garden; only in the first half is it going up and down vigorously three times. Otherwise the height differences are moderate. The first nine are a bit easier than the second half because more water comes into play and a number of fairways have to be played precisely so that the ball does not jump anywhere. This happens from time to time in the currently very dry conditions, but these also make the drives longer and the semi-rough easier to play.
The course is easy to play from the front teas. There is usually enough space for the drive, the fairly large fairway bunkers hardly come into play with a reasonably straight stroke and the green bunkers are usually easy to remove from the game. There are some highlights: I really liked the 3, a nice par 3 hole with a small lake on the left. Most players will probably remember 15, a par 3 with a lot of water and a not very deep green (and out of bounds behind).
The visual impression remains: Despite the beautiful far-reaching view of Alsace, the course is less attractive than Tree Garden, but the various new plantings still take a number of years before the course is also visually convincing (therefore only 4 stars). The last 4 holes are unfortunately a bit weaker: first 3 holes in open terrain (up-down on parallel lanes), not easy, but not exciting.
