poor course 1 Review

Played October 14th 2016

Course in very poor condition, appeared very poorly maintained.
Tee boxes poor condition, fairways even worst. The greens may as well have been fairways.

Played here many times in the past but appears to be deteriorating every time we go there.

Will unlikely ever visit again. Response from Front Office not worth a mention.

VERY POOR MAINTENANCE

WE BOOKED TO PLAY THIS COURSE ON THE 10TH & 11TH OCTOBER 2015 AS PART OF A GOLFING HOLIDAY. WE WERE AWARE THAT THE GREENS HAD BEEN SPIKED AND SANDED WHICH IS NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR BUT WE WERE NOT TOLD THAT THE REST OF THE COURSE HAD NOT BEEN MAINTAINED FOR WHAT SEAMED TO BE QUITE SOME TIME.
THE BUNKERS HAD NOT BEEN RAKED THE FAIRWAYS HAD NOT BEEN CUT (YOU COULDN`T IDENTIFY THEM) THE GREENS HAD NOT BEEN SWISHED TO CLEAR THE DEW OR THE SPIKES FILLED PROPERLY WITH SAND AND WERE CHARGED THE FULL HIGH SEASON PRICE TO PLAY. HAD WE KNOWN PRIOR TO TEEING OFF WE WOULD HAD GONE ELSEWHERE.
WE DID NOT RETURN TO PLAY THE SECOND DAY.

Disappointing for the price

This is a pretty and quite challenging course. Water comes into play on many of the holes so accuracy is more than usually important. The course is quite hilly so a buggy is recommended for those of you who, like me, have knee problems. Facilities are good with nice food available at the bar, The problem comes when considering the condition of the course especially at the prices charged. When we played the greens had just been hollow teigned (for which we received a small discount) but the greens had clearly not been up to much even before the work was undertaken. The debris had been strewn around the edge of the greens rather than being cleared away. The fairways were covered in grass cuttings so it would appear that they not cut sufficiently often. The weather leading up to our visit was good so there was no excuse for this.
In the UK this would be considered a very ordinary course demanding a fee of no more than £20 so very difficult to justify the 46 euro green fee! In this area of France there are few courses to choose from which probably explains the somewhat complaisant attitude to course maintenance.

Water, water everywhere

Golf de la Preze is an interesting and challenging course, not the hardest but quite unforgiving for those of us who are, lets say a bit wayward with our golf shots. Water comes into play on several holes, the second is an island playing about 150 metres. Facilitys are good with driving range, practise and putting greens. I would recommend playing here to everyone. One bit of advice though, take plenty of balls with you. Good golfing.
