Ruhpolding wants you to believe it's a great course, but that's not all true. The surroundings are superb, the course is not that special.
A lot of the same, fairways close to eachother and sometimes difficult routing. It's golf in the Alps, but the course is mostly flat. Also not a very hard course.
Practice facilities are ok, clubhouse nice. Overall too highly priced for what is offered, but nice to play once.

I always like to go to the Chiemgau for a few days. And then of course to Ruhpolding. Also because there is always a nice round of golf waiting there.
I last played the course in early September 2022.
Even the way from the parking lot to the clubhouse is unusual. Eventually you come to a beautiful raised putting green. The ladies in the secretariat are always friendly and helpful.
After that, it's just a few steps to the first tee. The mountain scenery is really impressive. The condition of the place but also. The tee boxes are very well maintained and the fairways are excellent. Even after a long period of drought, there is hardly any brown spot. Finally the greens: just beautiful. And those who pay attention to the subtleties will notice the spotlessly clean cut edge between the green and the foregreen. It's just fun to chip and putt here. This perfect care by the greenkeeper team can really be found at all holes.
Of course it has to be mentioned that in autumn the ravens are up to mischief and sometimes dig left and right of the fairways for something to eat. You can't blame the team for that.
The place is considered exhausting. It's correct. But only after the 12th. Until then, everything goes smoothly. From here follow 5 holes where you have to catch your breath. The reward, however, are reductions in depth that only a few places can offer. The first welcome break is the 14. A beautiful par 3. The 15 goes up. And to tee the 16 again a piece. That's almost it.
