Characteristics

The 18-hole course is a (golf) oasis in the middle of the Ruhr area. The first nine holes spread over a hilly terrain, framed by coniferous and deciduous forest and offer views on the open fields. Because of partly very narrow aisles, the fairways call for a precise game. Seven of the nine new holes are situated at the bend of the Ruhr. They offer a panoramic view over the Ruhr landscape with forested riverside mountains, river, view on the "Platte" and in the direction of the "Villa Hügel."

Known for its relaxed atmosphere Oefte also offers competive players a great test. Both Jack Nicklaus and Bernhard Langer have played the course. After Jack played here he went on to win the Open Championship in 1978 the next week. Today some of Germany´s best amateurs and teaching professionals come here to compete. Since 2015 Haus Oefte is the home of the North Rhine-Westphalian Team Championship Willy Schniewind. In 2017 and 2018 Haus Oefte hosted the H&H Golf PGA Club Professional Series tournaments.

A special golfing experience

Golfclub Haus Oefte truly surprised us. The hospitality and service are excellent, and the course itself offers beautiful, varied holes with exceptional perspectives. It is in bloom everywhere, the course designs are creative and challenging, and the impressive castle gives the entire surroundings a unique atmosphere.

The quality of the course was so good that I even played my first birdie in Germany here. A fantastic atmosphere for anyone who wants to experience a somewhat more unique golf club in Germany.

More about the golfing experience or the course impression.

Top quality of space

Despite the bad weather, the course was in fantastic condition yesterday, very impressive! The greens were true and the scenery was beautiful at every turn. Very satisfying.

Fantastically beautiful

The course in Essen's south is truly something special and a must for every golf fan from North Rhine-Westphalia!

Architecturally, it's an absolute feast for the eyes! My highlight is hole 8, which is played from an elevated tee down into the valley.

The Back 9 are a huge contrast to the front 9. While the front nine were built into hilly terrain, the back nine are flatter and very close to the Ruhr river.

The castle is also something very special, which can be admired from different angles during the tour.
