There is one course in Belamadena that claims to be the best pitch and put course in the region. I doubt that from my own point of view after playing both of them. The El Soto played today is in La Mairena, also called Elviria alta, at about 350m above sea level above Elviria near Marbella. The approach from Elviria is very well signposted. However, the place itself has no internet presence, registration is never required. This is surprising because it is a quality 9 hole par 27 course in very good condition. On the way there are about 60 meters of altitude to be overcome, quite a small mountain goat course. The holes are between 45 and 108 m long from the yellow (a total of 660m to play, about 1000m to walk) and quite sometimes demanding, elevated greens, water and a hole 8 that can only be played high above 2 trees by yellow. A good test and a varied, small but real golf course.
