Amazing views on an excellent golfcourse

During our holiday we played 9 holes, the very friendly staff already prepared the golfcart with rental clubs which were excellent. A beautiful and challenging course with an excellent view of the castle of Poppi.

At the beginning of September 2023 I had the pleasure of playing this beautifully located golf course. With pleasant temperatures of around 25° and an almost windless day, the square offered an impressive backdrop. The recent rain had made the ground softer, which benefited the game. The balls roll and jump very far on the always sloping fairways.
As soon as I arrived I was greeted very friendly at the **reception**. The club, which has existed for 40 years, introduced me to its history and planned expansions. There are plans to add 9 additional lanes in the near future, and plans for another restaurant and villa construction are also in the works. In about two to three years, around 2025, the golf course will be expanded to a full 18-hole course.
The **fairways** were in good condition, although they were quite narrow and sloping in places. Particularly noteworthy is the breathtaking view of the Casentino National Park. A strategic game is required here, as the fairways often slope to one side and the balls end up far from the landing point.
The **greens** weren't too slow despite their softness. They were well maintained, took spin well and showed no defects. There were often pitch marks that were caused by playing from above or below - these were of course carefully repaired.
I was invited to visit the **Bar** and take a break during my round. I gladly accepted this offer and treated myself to a small pizza and a local draft beer after the first nine - I can highly recommend both. The club has a restaurant and a bar where you can also enjoy small snacks. There are also toilets, changing rooms and a well-equipped pro shop.
The **arrival** to the golf course was typical for Tuscany and a bit tedious. A narrow road winds up from the valley to the golf course, with the reception at the top of the hill. The journey from Arezzo takes about 30 minutes.
The **Driving Range** has certainly seen better days. It is quite short (around 200m) and relatively narrow, and a sign asks players not to use drivers or blades. The balls are the typical hard, old balls that you often find in Italy. A basket with 30 balls costs 2 euros. One basket of these balls is enough to play in. You don't want to deal with much more of it.
The **height profile** of the golf course is impressive. The course is located on a mountain peak, with the first six holes leading down into the valley. The last cableways lead back up. I was glad I rented a cart, especially since I played two rounds. Most players were also on carts, and it was refreshing to see that pedestrians made playthrough possible anywhere. Players with sporting ambitions can also complete the course on foot, but should be prepared to let players play through with a cart.
**Conclusion**: This golf course offers a very nice mix of strategic play and beautiful views. Despite some small defects, such as the condition of the driving range, it is a recommendation for a relaxing day of golf in Tuscany if you are staying near Arezzo or Florence. The Ugolino Club is of course recommended near Florence. In contrast to Ugolino, you can play golf here quite cheaply. I paid 50 euros for 2x 9 holes plus 30 euros for the cart for the 18 holes.

The greens are green and well maintained. The reception is very friendly. The green fee is more than cheap. However, the fairways are not really there anymore, it was too dry for that. This will cause the balls to bounce in every direction. Still, it was really fun and we will play there again. But if only in spring. You also lose balls because of the permanent inclines. Orientation is also difficult.

The fairways not only go down on the first 5 holes and make the game very challenging, not only in the calves, which are rewarded with sore muscles.
The construction work to expand to the completed 18-hole is currently in progress, but you will not be bothered by it during the game. For a varied golf snack in between and thanks to the typical Tuscan impressions all around, the course is worth its round.
