golf on rolling hills
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 25, 2017
a very nice golf course on hilly grounds. many holes are difficult and challenging to play. lots of old grown trees, excellent bunkers some water hazards and very well kept greens. it's an old course just outside (east) of cape town. if you like to battle sloping fairways, give it a chance!
to me, anytime again.

Nice place in the city
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed November 20, 2023
Unfortunately it rained and we had enough wind... so there weren't many players on the pitch.
The course is varied, well-maintained, the greens are relatively fast despite the rain and the signs are ok for those unfamiliar with the course.
We used a cart for the hilly tracks, which is also recommended.
Fortunately, the road traffic (street circuit) wasn't that disruptive and some of the paths for the carts are obviously being renewed at the moment, for which we deducted one star overall.

Good and cheap, hilly
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed March 6, 2022
We still like the place (HCP 18.5 and HCP 31). There is a significant difference in elevation, so we use a golf cart. There are few tourists. Most South Africans are extremely friendly and don't have a problem if you tell them that we are "holiday sunshine golfers from Germany". There is also no irritated look when a man tees off from red, which makes sense for some very long holes. Favorite hole is hole 5, par 4: if you play tiger line over the hill, the ball can roll steeply downhill to the green, a birdie is almost guaranteed. The high number of green keepers for daily course maintenance is striking. Caddy master Piet and the whole team are as always friendly and helpful. Prices are still cheap, even for South Africa.

Always better and still cheap
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed February 22, 2021
Like every year we play "our" place twice a week in the German winter = South Africa summer. This season the dams were well filled due to the heavy rainfall and the fairways were lush green. Naturally this decreases towards autumn. The extensive clearing work of dead trees on the edges of the tracks was noticeable. The paved paths were also repaired. At hole 17, high earth walls are raised; the ball then no longer rolls onto the neighboring fairway. Overall, further investments are made in the space. The prices are fair and the natural landscape compensates for a bad score. By the way, many gentlemen tee off from blue or even red, which shows that the course has difficult lengths. Caddy master Piet and his team are always helpful.

Course renovation, great landscape, varied, cheap
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed February 19, 2020
After a rainy winter, the conditions were better this time, even if at the end of summer there were some holes "Ground under repair". The greens are well maintained. The club invests in course renewal and water management, good for the future. The green fee surcharge of 10 rand is then gladly paid.
The hilly tracks are varied with many inclinations; a car is recommended. Of course, hole 12 par 3 is always remembered: my first hole in one after 27 years of golf. The staff is friendly; Caddymaster Pit always helps. And the green fee is very fair compared to other places in South Africa.

Played on 5.12.2018, HCP 11
For a GREAT green fee (about EUR 12, -) there is a GOOD, neatly hilly (a cart is not quite as sporty to recommend), always varied parkland course with plenty of water hazards (from the back tees are sometimes carry 180m required!) , Bunkers, trees - in short, everything the golfer needs to have fun!
The greens are well maintained, quite fast (Stimp 10) and moderately undulating - the fairways and the Semirough, however, unfortunately not always in the best condition.
Although close to town, the landscape is very nice. On some trains you can hear a bit of street noise and from time to time planes also come directly over the area.
Often heard is "FORE! FORE!! FOOORE !!!"- the place is in places quite narrow and well frequented (many "locals", less "tourists").
Conclusion: No "very big", but it's fun to play here. Because of the variety also like more often. Solid 3 stars (In the "Golf Bear Ranking": 6 out of 10 points.)

Varied, great scenery, lots of water
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 20, 2019
"We'll be back," I wrote a year ago. The course is in very good condition this season because it rained a lot in the South African winter and the lakes are filled. The holes are extremely different and it always goes uphill and downhill. That's why it's not boring at the 20th time either. We personally like that here few tourists play and no days-long reservations are necessary.
The staff are always friendly, especially Caddiemaster Pit and his team. The green fee prices are cheap.

Up and down, many slopes, reasonably priced
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed February 6, 2018
This course is located in Welgemoed, a prosperous neighborhood on the edge of Cape Town. More local South Africans and fewer tourists play here. Despite extreme water scarcity (the showers are closed) the place is still playable well. In the second 9 holes, however, the ball rolls because of the inclinations and the drought often far into the adjacent fairway. We have played the course almost 30 times during the "wintering"; we never got bored. The tracks are varied. The old trees and the wildlife have pleased us. The green fee is cheap; the staff friendly and competent.
We will be back.

Trickreich
3.0 of 5 starsReviewed January 31, 2018
Hilly course, on the border between running and driving. Played on 31.1.2018. Almost all landing zones are weird. Accordingly, it is difficult to place the ball in the desired position, let alone to lie down, in the dry conditions. Unfortunately no route between the holes available. For very rustic ways. Well maintained greens, not too fast. Green fee with car for 2 people 1140 edge.

Challenging and hilly course with beautiful trees
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed December 11, 2017
Despite water scarcity the place was good, the greens very good and very fast. No room for long hitters, but overall very interesting to play. Slopes characterize the game, water hazards complete the profile and force exact play.
Relaxed golfing in a beautiful valley, sheltered from the wind, little noise for a city square.
Highly recommended, will certainly play it again, as well as the green fee with 25 € for two people is unbeatable, booked over Internet golfteetimes. co.za. Good thing.
Worthwhile place, if you live in the area of Bellville.

Pretentious place for little money
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed December 25, 2016
The location is well situated in a valley, close to the airport, but other than a few planes landing it is very quiet. Very close located at Cape Town. Friendly, uncomplicated reception. There are some very demanding tracks, but not rough. Very beautiful old trees. Of course, the place was rather dry but after an extremely dry spring which can hardly be otherwise. No pearl but a beautifully situated place on the locals play. Those who are not top fit better take a cart!

Good value for money
4.0 of 5 starsReviewed November 24, 2016
We (HCP 6 and 13) have already played three times (2014 to 2015) on the pitch. Overall very nice facility with many different paths, very demanding, hilly and overall in good maintenance condition, if one of the disregard one or other dry location in the fairway in midsummer. For about 25/30 € per person per round you can not complain there. Always my pleasure.

Sporty, hilly, lots of activity and lots of wind!
Watch out for the balls, some birds who like to steal want.
Who does not want to expend better order a cart in advance.
