Characteristics

Located in the Oasis City of Al Ain, the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club offers more than a typical golf club which the UAE golfing residents can experience in other cities. The Golf Club at the AESGC is a social hub for everyone who likes to enjoy the atmosphere of a real Club. From 2007, the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Course opened giving the first grass golf course in the city. The 18 hole Championship course offers a picturesque and challenging experience for all golfers. The back 9 has recently been floodlight to allow play long after the sun has set.

In addition to the Championship Course, a 9 hole par 3, Academy Course is also available and again like the back 9 on the Championship Course it is fully floodlit. There is also the AESGC Golf Academy allowing players to practice their long or short game as well as take advantage of the various lesson packages offered by one of the PGA Professionals. The Golf Clubhouse is home to the Palm Greens Restaurant, The Bar and also our fully stocked Golf Shop.

Well maintained course with excellent service

Do not be afraid of the climate in the middle of the desert! Winter is superb and summer is hot but dry so you won't feel it as bad. You probably need some UV protection though.
The course is nicely maintained and beautiful. Front nine is being rebuilt and expected to be ready by December 2016. Unfortunately, it isn't really suitable for walking as the tee boxes are far from the greens - buggy is a must. Staff is very helpful and polite. Practice facilities are fantastic with loads of chipping and bunker play areas and putting greens including an 18 hole putting course which is great fun! It's worth trying the academy course which is in great condition too! Club house is ok; the shower is a bit tired but clean. The restaurant is fantastic. (And the rugby, equestrian and shooting clubs do have their own restaurants - English pub, Lebanese and Asian.) Golf here isn't typically cheap but reasonable and much more affordable than in Dubai or in Abu Dhabi and green fee includes the golf buggy!

Golf in the oasis city

Played on February 14th, 2020. The 18-hole course plus 9-hole PAR 3 course is located in the oasis town of Al Ain, which belongs to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and is approximately 150 km from the capital of the Emirates. The facility is integrated in a large sports complex, where all kinds of sports are offered, from horse riding to free climbing. The first 9 holes of the course are within a racecourse. The second 9 around it. The entire system can be illuminated with floodlights and laps after dusk are also possible. You hardly notice that you play inside a racecourse. There are doglegs, bunkers and water hazards, so it never gets boring. Also a high rough that devours the balls. So you should stay on the fairway. The condition was very good, the greens undulated, and quick, so not easy. The rich bird life on the site away from the loud city traffic was absolutely worth seeing and impressive. There is a large driving range (balls free) about 500 meters away from the clubhouse, which can be played on both sides and a good practice area. The clubhouse is a bit old, but offers all the service you need (restaurant not tested). The staff is absolutely friendly and helpful. We booked a tee time by email (online via the rather rudimentary homepage is not possible) for a Friday (weekend) at 10:30 a.m. The green fee was the equivalent of € 90, which is cheap compared to the Troon facilities in Abu Dhabi. Unfortunately, the game was very busy and there were considerable waiting times. We were on the road for almost 5 hours. Unfortunately, the marshalls who came by from time to time could not or did not want to accelerate the game during the pre-flights. If you are in the area, or if you take the route from Abu Dhabi, the round is definitely recommended, possibly combined with a visit to the sights and the world-famous and absolutely worth seeing oasis in Al Ain.
