The fantastic view over the mountains from Benhavis to Gibraltar is however reserved to members and their guests only. Spectacular!

If you're lucky enough to play here.. do it! Stunning views, incredible conditions, challenging courses and maybe the best lunch in any clubhouse in the world. The staff is exemplary!

Difficult to describe

I'm happy to repeat myself after a year and can only emphasize once again that the generally accessible New Course is one of the most exciting golf courses you can find. The actual reason for the new posting is that the “surroundings” are absolutely top notch: the guest is received in such a friendly and gracious way that we have never experienced before. The amenities such as ball bags, golf balls etc. are valuable and the restaurant will knock your socks off, also in terms of price. Almost all of the luxury courses on the Costa del Sol have reduced their services a little as occupancy increases in 2023 (e.g. fruit, water), but here they have increased. Bravo. You get over all the messed up balls. Course maintenance is incredibly good. You should have experienced it and play a flat course the next day so that you still believe in your golf game. And then come back here to enjoy this unique place...

Exclusive, everything at its finest

Much has been written about the difficulties of this place and the many turnovers. It's not that bad. A somewhat experienced golfer with a handicap of 20 or lower can play this course with great pleasure if he takes a step back, plays defensively and doesn't just want to hit long shots. The course is well maintained, exciting and extremely varied in the rugged hinterland of Marbella. The individual holes are rather short, which is why long shots are not necessary. If you take this to heart, you will play a decent score, only lose a few balls and have a lot of fun in the round. The course is by no means unfair: with a good shot, the ball is never lost and at least one bogey can always be played. But the greens are faster than on many other courses and you have to get used to that. Often deep ravines have to be played over. However, this always succeeds with a good shot and is therefore particularly enjoyable. But if you let yourself be impressed and make a bad shot out of sheer fear, you will lose your ball. Because of this fact, players with a higher handicap should be advised not to use this course. Therefore only four stars. You will only have stress and no joy. For the more advanced players, however, the course is a great challenge and promises a sensational day of golf. Everything else on La Zagaleta is of the finest and even better and worth every euro. The friendliness of the reception and the support (e.g. sandwiches or drinks are brought to order at any point on the pitch), the showers after the game, the food in the clubhouse, etc. Everything is just right. And last but not least: Because the course is only a real pleasure for lower handicaps, only a few players come and they have peace and can play and enjoy their round undisturbed.
