Radstadt - in the heart of Austria
Nearly 2000 years ago the Romans made their first stop in the region of Radstadt after passing the Alps. Nowadays people from all over the world come to visit the medieval town with its wall from the 13th century, as well
in summer as in winter. You find 4000 beds in hotels, apartments, private-rooms (partly rural vacation) and youth-hotels.
Radstadt with nowadays 4.500 inhabitants is a part of the so called „Salzburger Sportwelt" there are lots of reasons for making vacation: Next to 60 km of walking paths, tennis-courts, a big biking and mountain-bike area you find in summer a golf-course with driving-range, public 9-hole-course and 18-holes championship-course where you will find the „Birdie Jet“, the unique golf-cable-car in the world, which brings you from green number 3
to tee number 4.
But it means no holidays in Radstadt without an excursion to the Roßbrand (1.770 m), one of the most beautiful vantage points of the Austrian Alps which can be reached on foot as well as easily by car on a 12 km toll-free road; you can see approximately 150 striking peaks of the Alps. Close to Radstadt there are a lot of well-known excursion points like for instance the Liechtensteinklamm (gorge), the world´s largest ice-caves in Werfen, Hohenwerfen castle and the Hallein salt-mines. And there are well-known summer festivals in Radstadt like the „dumpling-
party“, the „Kunsthandwerks-Markt“ (market for art and craft, the „autumn of the farmers“ and many more.
In winter the Ski amadé is one of the best-known skiing areas. You´ll find 850 km of alpine skiing slopes with absolutely modern chair-lifts and cable-cars and for cross-country-skiing there are 220 km of best
prepared tracks. Skating, floodlight-tobogganing, ski-kindergarten, curling and 20 km of winter-walking paths makes it really worth to spend the holidays.
