This review is part of my travel blog from our vacation. WINSTON Golf was our tenth golf stop on our roadtip. I had this course on my bucket list for some time. I seen pictures and been so eager to play there. Obviously since its kind of pricey I had to choose which course we will play and we choose links, due the design. Before I start writing this review I took some time to consume the feeling and enjoyment. We arrived late night day before, honestly its nit difficult to find course even with google maps. I would expect bigger signs for course with such a name and reviews, but we found it. Once you enter it you will be surprised, you see the German perfection everywhere, something what I really like. Everything is here very well organized all training places in good shape and close to clubhouse, which is btw great. I will mentioned it now, they had the best dressing rooms from all courses we played big, clean, just nice. Back to game, check in is fast as expected, we were lucky to have sundown deal, what saves us some money. Appreciated to buy logo ball. I seen small proshop, but very well equipped. Now to the game. You will start taking pictures from 1st tee and will continue to the last one. Design is what makes this course special, you will be hitting interesting shot, many of them will be blind, you will be afraid that ball is lost, but fairways are wide. Greens are hard and you need to play more often to score good there. They warn me that I will lose many balls, I did not lose a one. Wat I did not like and did not understand it the quality of the greens, but I do now, since I read that its mention to be as Scottish links, therefore do not expect nicely cut rolled greens no its nothing like standard golf game, its old fashioned links golf. I'm not giving 4 stars for that, I'm giving it for dry fairways, where high priced charged I would not expect that. Also I would probably inform new comers what they should expect on links course and let them change their mind if wanted. I could not review the other course but I believe that it is nice and well design as links course. We also liked the restaurant, where we took our final drinks and officially closed our road trip. So Thank you WINSTON golf team for hospitality and we might come back in the future.

In summer 2014 I played both WINSTONopen and WINSTONlinks. Two very different courses, which need different way of play. Both in superb condition and a MUST play for every golfer. I stayed at a hotel close to the course incl. dinner at the golf restaurant. Very good!!!

I just had to return to the Winston Links after visiting for a seminar in August and only being able to play a few holes, so on the 12 th of January, a beautifull sunny day my son and I drove to Winston and enjoyed a most fabulous and breathtaking round of golf, this golfcourse is exciting, beautifull, stunning and a real test, the greens were incredible for that time of year, the courtesy of all the staff is second to none, congratulations to the owners for creating a real gem.
Every serious golfer in Germany must visit this golfcourse, once you have been there you will want to go back again and again, as I do

WinstonLink is something special. The WINSTONgolf staff was very nice and the Hotel Arrangement Gut Basthorst was a very good addition.

Played on 5/6/23 WinstonOpen and 5/7/23 WinstonLinks. The 45-hole course is not far from the A14, about 10 km from the state capital of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Schwerin, in absolute peace and nature. If you drive up the driveway to the clubhouse, you can already see the meter-high dunes of the links course. The clubhouse with restaurant (not used) is modern and comfortable. If you enter through the door that opens automatically, you will be greeted in a friendly manner and, as a first-time player, you will receive detailed instructions. Yes, the standard green fee is currently €120 for the Open course and €160 for the links. There is no distinction between weekdays and weekends. As a guest of one of the partner hotels, you receive a €20 discount. However, the hotels are not cheap either, but there are alternatives in the area. People live here more from guest players/holidaymakers and less from the members I suspect. If you want to play cheaper, you should book the Sundowner 70 € Open/100 € Links or the Sunrise 90 € Open/120 € Links. In addition, it is also emptier in the squares until 8:30 a.m. and after 4 p.m. I had the places to myself at these times, in a wonderful evening and morning mood. But there were also enough free start times on a cool, but dry and partly sunny weekend. I don't understand the recent rather negative reviews. The care conditions of both places were absolutely fine. On the links course, however, the tees, the fairways and the greens were slightly sanded. The robotic lawnmowers, which are busy working the fairways on both courses, are probably unique in Germany. About the places: Winston Open: Certainly the slightly easier place but not to be underestimated. The design is varied and it doesn't get boring. We have been to Winston many times and this visit will be our last. The Open is an interesting and well-maintained parkland course, but there are better courses in Germany for €120. A green fee of €160 is a bad joke, a new management seems to be looking too closely at the income.

We played both courses in June 2021 after overnight stays in MV were possible again.
Gut Vorbeck, where we stayed, is 3 minutes from the golf course and offers the basics for a relaxed golf weekend.

The open was very nice and varied. On the links course I threw away my score card after 4 holes (HCP 22.8) and only enjoyed golf with fantastic holes. No traffic jams on the railways. Relaxed golf.
There were four of us with Golf Pro and stayed at Gut Vorbeck. Everything perfect. Approx. One kilometer from the golf course. Very nice clubhouse where dinner takes place even with half board. The restaurant closes at 9:00 p.m. Nightcap only in the hotel cellar with drinks from the refrigerator.
