Alferini nice design poor quality

Villa Padierna Alferini.
Last day of our golfing trip and we expect the best and we got average over all, and I mean it in quality of golf course, not our game.
Once again I'm not going to check driving range which is a bit far away. Again very poor orientation signs, difficult to find 1st tee. Better marking would help. Caddy master here is doing horrible job, to pick up buggy is nightmare, we had no idea who was in charge. Very much valued was water and complimentary bananas, however not surprised since there is no refreshment cart on course and also for the price charged. Buggies without GPS or shot saver. Design of the course is very nice, uphill downhill shots, short par 3s and 4s, reachable par 5s. I like it very much, BUT quality is horrible, few fairways were damaged from wild boars, some greens damaged from deer. On this course you need to have very accurate shots, but from the green tees its quite short now. If I have to choose signature hole I would for sure say 18th.
After game amenities are OK, however worst part there is refreshment, they do not value guest, they do not care. Quality of the service and food was the worst from whole trip. Waitresses who are not able collet correctly order and bring the ordered food are just loosing potential to make any tip and losing customer. On top of that you coming to Spain to eat in restaurant poor pizza, pasta and burger with cold bun, what a disappointment, why. We came to have shrimps, fish, jamon and etc. So price/performance value here was very poor, and not planning to come again.

I had the pleasure to play this course in the past 5 months several times and it is always in top shape. Compliments to the management and green keeper team. The fairways are like a carpet, the greens very good and the overall landscape with its Tuscany touch just amazing. The service at Villa Padierna is always immaculate. Friendly, professional staff, well maintained, clean facilities, good food and beverage. The Flamingo course is surrounded by lovely houses, villas but still has the initial style of the Tuscan atmosphere. Partially a challenging course but lots of fun. I cannot wait to come back.

My two previous reviewers sum it up - at least when it comes to the quality of the place. I have played Alferini and Flamingos twice each in the last few weeks and am actually thrilled with the courses. But with such a high green fee (in the off-season) the quality should be better (especially Alferini). This has mostly been better in recent years.
In addition to the pitch, we were a little happier than the previous reviewers. We received friendly and uncomplicated service from the caddy master. Thanks to the voucher, the garage also cost nothing. It was enough for a round of golf and around an hour and a half on the small restaurant terrace at Tee 1 at Flamingos. The service there was attentive and quite prompt.
We'll definitely be back - hopefully with better quality pitches.
Tip: With golf service. com we booked both places for a total of EUR 167 (without buggy) if you play in the same week. I think that's very ok.

I have to agree with my previous poster 100%. I too am a self-confessed Alferini fan, but a Villa Padierna golf course with premium standards and a very reasonable green fee has to offer more. Played again this year and was disappointed in many ways. Lousy buggies for 45 euros, no service at all, poor site maintenance, overall you don't feel welcome. After the round you look in vain for adequate ways to clean the equipment. A bathtub with standing water and exactly one brush was all. There used to be a caddy master who serviced the equipment. We have known the place for 7 years and are dismayed by the loss of quality. If the course layout wasn't so exciting, I wouldn't come here anymore.

A really interesting and well maintained academy course! Certainly not a short course and if you are not a triathlete or do not want to risk a heart attack, you should grab a buggy for €32. The green fee (golf fee is also accepted) is ok at €53 and we had a nice day of golf with various challenges.

The 54-hole course of the Villa Padierna Golf Club is also located in the hills of Estepona and Marbella between the two motorways AP7 and A7. The clubhouse with pro shop is integrated in the hotel of the same name. The hotel looks very appealing in the style of a Tuscan villa. Parking is only possible in the underground car park under the hotel, free of charge for a maximum of 5 hours. So if you play for more than 5 hours or eat something after the round, you have to pay a parking fee as a penalty, which is not really possible given the prices! There is no public parking on the streets surrounding the hotel. As a guest, you get a voucher for the exit after the round in the ProShop. The Flamingo Course starts with holes 1 and 10 directly in front of the hotel, while the first tee of the Alferini Course is about 300 meters away. While the Alferini Course meanders through the mountains to the north of the hotel, you can play the flamingos practically all around the hotel. But the Flamingos is not a flat shooting meadow either. It's also constantly going downhill and uphill here, so that a cart is not a must here, but it is certainly very helpful for those who are not quite as athletically ambitious. Briefly to the carts. Flamingos:
Can you walk, e-trolley makes sense. Interesting tracks, where course management is definitely necessary. Some parkland character, little water involved. Straight game helps, otherwise some balls are just gone.
There are quite a few differences in altitude, so a buggy would be good if the temperatures are high. Now (Feb 2022) it's just good training. I enjoy the place and the greens are demanding. A three-putt is no shame!
Alferini:
I don't have to walk. A Parisian couple in their early 70s did it anyway, they have my full respect! There are sometimes crazy long ways to the next tee, but you will be rewarded with great views.
The bitching about lane 1 is incomprehensible to me: log hitters hit the ball left into the slope and at best have a PW into the green. I drive with HCP 17 and then chip 70m in front of the gorge, then PW onto the green, bogey, so what?
The tracks require some planning, but are so varied that it's just fun. Anyone who can hit straight will have fun here.
When Corona is over, the condition will also be better, but even now we don't regret the subscription and have also invited friends to enjoy the two beautiful places with us. If you like varied courses where you have to plan, you will have fun here, just hit it, it will lead to disaster.

Our first place we played in our golf week and were basically thrilled.
Very varied and exciting courses.
Not an easy place to punish bad drives with ball loss.
