Golf by the Mediterranean

Wonderful East Course in Verdura! I played on 2nd January, on a beautiful sunny afternoon. The assistance at the pro-shop was first-class: my wife didn't want to play and we wanted to walk, OK for her to walk with me, no need to take a cart. Single player? Welcome, no nonsense of pairing you with anyone else. I wanted to play after lunch: they gave me a one o'clock tee-time, just perfect to grab a bite at the buffet snack by the caddy master's. The description is accurate: they open up space so that you don't bump into the players ahead of you and the players behind have also plenty of room. I didn't have to wait a second until hole 16. And even then the pace was good. The course is spectacular, with two loops that either descend towards the sea or play along the coast. The fairways are in excellent condition and the greens are above average. The West Course runs parallel and across, but good signs all along and white flags for East and read for West avoid any confusion. A brilliant day of golf on a great location!

Something between 3 & 4 stars

I was playing in april 2014, here on east Course. It is not so hard. It is a little bit spectacular, but is very well maintained and the fairways and greens are adorable. The training area is super, the persons are very politely, but for instance... pro shop is very poor, the restaurant is extremely low (only a cold buffet) . It is very well signalized, from SS 115...
No return, all SICILY is very poor and dissapointing from PALERMO to SCIACCA, from TRAPANI to CATANIA.
The weather could be the only advantage of this area...
An off - topic : I was trying to play in PALERMO but I was astonished to hear that monday the golf Course is CLOSED!
Unbelievable (of course wasn't any holiday, or something...) , it was just CLOSED!

Small flaws

Both the east course, which is more difficult to play, and the west course are in good condition. The tracks are sometimes challenging to play, especially when the wind is playing along. The missing tee boards on the east course and the occasional missing bench are to be criticized. But the balls on the range are free. The whole area, starting with the staff as well as the hotel and the other sporting activities, are recommended.

Employment for hotel guests

Verdura East Course was damaged by a storm and is now fully playable again. The greens are fast and well maintained. As it had rained very little until early April 2022, the grass is sparse and the ground hard. As a result, the golf ball bounces like a bouncy ball on concrete. €120 for 18 holes plus 10 for the pull trolley is overpriced. I would not come again. The tracks are relatively lengthy, few trees, few obstacles. Unfortunately, there are no information boards from one track to the next. Despite the course card you are wrong about the place. It's a typical hotel golf course where rare players make the day. Compared to the Il Picciolo Golf Club near Catania, Sicily, the Verdura East Course draws the short straw.
The staff are friendly and accommodating. Coming from Agrigento by car there is no official access. You have to go past the unmarked access road, then daringly turn around at the solid line and get to the facility. The gate keeper needs a login name stored by phone. After parking the car in the large parking lot, a shuttle takes you across the entire facility. The return trip to the parking lot is similar if the shuttle comes.

Do you have to do it on holiday...

I played the East Course on a lot of wind and wet tracks and was impressed anyway.
The ambience, the location and the service leave a pleasant feeling of holiday relaxation, to which the square and the greens contribute. The price is certainly quite ambitious, but it's vacation...

Condition catastrophic, design really succeeded

My rating is on the East and on the West Course as both places are similar. The latter I played twice and the East Course once. If anyone has time to play just one of the two I would recommend the Westcourse.

We played over the Easter holiday 2017.
If we had known before our booking that the European Tour in May passed and one the place over Easter really more or less degenerate, then we would certainly not here.

The bunkers were not partly destroyed. This was argued by the fact that you are preparing for the European Tour. Likewise, the fairway and also the greens were in a partial catastrophic state.

Another big drawback is the signposting. Especially as far as the toilets are concerned, there is a lack of signposting for toilets. It was said there were signs attached (after we had pointed out to the pro shop staff). Two days later we passed the same place and no, there were no signs.

Beautiful area, poor condition

Have played both courses several times in April 2017th That they are very well laid out, has already been described in detail in the existing reviews. The condition: a Rocco Forte resort unfortunately unworthy!
The greens were slow and bumpy because aerifiziert and sanded. This must of course be made again and again. But: Has anyone told us that before? No! Almost all the bunkers were without sand because new drains were placed. This must also, of course - to be made - if necessary. Has us predicted someone? No!
But the worst were the fairways. Grass was only sparsely available, the ball was rarely on a beautiful carpet of grass. Fairway and semi-rough were covered with a weed that spreads braids like superficially.
Distances were present on the Sprinklerdeckeln, side post for 150 and 100 meters would be desirable.
Too bad for the beautiful and exciting facility.

Good hotel and good practice area

We were the end of March 2017 for 10 days at the Verdura Resort. We really liked. The hotel is spotless, the staff very helpful in all areas and really friendly. Bravo! deserves special praise the organization of the caddy master. I've never seen such excellent order. All Bag's our group stood every morning together. Also the Uebungsareal is really excellent; even there the service is great. The seats are so so la la... The West Course is rather boring, except the holes close to the sea. The East Course is exciting and varied. Unfortunately, about 70% of all bunkers were during the entire duration of our stay "under construction", that is not playable because drainage tubes installed and the sand is replaced. As would be sure to focus the work so that only getting a small part of the bunker GUR should have been. The side surfaces of the square are not really cared because you could improve a lot; a pity. Nevertheless, we will come back next spring. it is at the Verdura Golf Resort really good for Ueben.

Beautiful links course by the sea

We played in the third week of March 2017th The fairways are good and very open but sometimes a bit bumpy (lack of water). Greens good and fast. The rental equipment was relatively new and very good. The price for a round is if you do not stay in the corresponding hotel in March 2017 130 Euro. The rental equipment for two, and a cart together cost 120 euros. The place is so not exactly cheap but really nice and we do not regret that we have spent some big bucks for a round of golf.

Golf Holidays in November

We have booked our early-November at the Verdura Golf Resort and had a really great week. Service at the hotel is outstanding and the rooms are very nice.
The food and drinks are true, really expensive in the resort, but can be found in the neighboring town of Sciacca also good and much cheaper restaurants and pizzerias. To this end, a car must, however, there have, since the drive to Sciacca takes about 15 minutes.
The two golf courses were really in fantastic condition. The greens were incredibly fast and true and the fairways and the reductions were in great condition.
Of course, even if the tracks are not varied, so is quite nice and challenging especially when rising wind a real Herausvorderung. Since the white tees once a good bit behind the yellow are also Single Handicapper be called tidy.

Conclusion: price / performance is absolute madness in November. The weather in Sicily is good enough to still beautiful to go golfing and the resort is really great. The starting times one should, however, book in advance, as some golf clinics frequenting the place highly.

Two super places

From 7 to 14 May 2016 East and West Course were well maintained in top condition, fast greens. Partial long par 4, depending on the wind good Schwierigkeittsgad of places. Made really fun places alternately played 5 times.
Both courses have some holes on the seafront, optically toll the 18 on the East towards the clubhouse.
Very good service in the golf section, thoughtful handling reservations, payment, Teetimeveränderung, storage of clubs, all easy, we had two places well to cope luck on foot, as resort guests we paid 80 euros for green fees, totally ok.
The resort, excellent Comfort, shown very modern, good service but very high-priced. Food quality is good, portions small, beer prices outrageous.

In the footsteps of the Sicilian Open 2012 - a dream

We have both the "East Course" and the "West Course" (both designed by Kyle Phillips, who is among other things responsible for the links next to St Andrews Kingsbarns) recorded during the Easter week end of March 2013, and were completely thrilled. Both places are just fantastic - both the care and condition of difficulty - not to mention the beautiful scenery, vegetation and sea views throughout.

Before the round:
If you are not a guest of the Verdura Golf & Spa Resort is waiting in the parking lot up a cart with the name of the player with whom you can go back down to the clubhouse / pro shop and again.

Service is just great here. This is evident already at the club house, the friendliness of the staff, the caddy master absolt courteous and generous practice facilities. On the very large driving range can be found at every tee ball pyramids - all included in the green fee price. Before the round, each player gets from the caddy master free two bottles of mineral water.

In the Round:
Both places were in an absolute dream state. Both the (usually large) Fairways and bunkers and greens very well maintained. Again and again one encounters the round on diligent Greenkeeper who also edit the space between. They make the players but immediately unsolicited place and turn the engines off. Very exemplary.
The greens are hard and fast, which means that the balls barely come to rest. High blows to the Green or backspin beneficial. Closer and closer again to the sea and entice both the thriving, diverse vegetation and the magnificent views of the sea and the surrounding area you can dangle the soul.
Both courses can be very well managed without Cart. Gradients are limited.
A highlight is the final hole at the "East Course" where you zuspielt of a hill from the direction of the clubhouse and Torre Verdura - on the right side of the sea. Pebble Beach says hello.
Also the 18th Hole of the "West Course" is right on the sea and ends in front of the clubhouse terrace. But here you are on the last holes under the observation of the hotel guests who watch from their terraces from the golf event. May already insecure every now and then the amateur player. ;-)

After the round:
The Club House with its friendly staff invites you to stay and eat on the terrace overlooking the last holes of the "West Course" field. Food consistently good - you have the choice of buffet or card.
Even the changing rooms including showers are available to guests.

Personally, I like the "East Course" like something better.
Although the green fee may be higher than other places, but is absolutely worth the money and the services included.

We would love to come back and be without question.
