Disappointing

We recently played at Sotogrande as a foursome. Given the reputation this course has as one of the best in Spain (and Europe) we were not surprised to read their strict pace of play policy. There is a policy that a third warning to pick up your pace would result in ejection/no refund. However, a very large group of male players in front of us (about 5 or 6 Foursomes) were permitted to play extremely slowly without consequence. The Marshall kept apologizing to us but did nothing. At one point, two of the Foursomes joined together and were playing as 8. Totally unacceptable. In the end, we waited on every shot and it took 5 hours and 40 minutes to complete the round. Pretty much ruined it for us. There were no managers still on site when we finished so couldn’t even complain. Suggest playing at Valderrama and Finca Cortesin where the courses were beautiful and exceptionally well managed.

Not worth the money...

Played this course in Nov 2017.
Hdcp 8 player...
Good quality fairways and greens.
Boring lay out, a lot of fairways could be part of the driving range, straight and wide.
No finess!
Driving range very poor.
Not worth the money...

Beautiful Place Design

We played the course at the end of November 2023 and were wonderfully looked after by two members of the flight. The course design is very attractive, although the second 9 holes are more exciting to play. The tracks around the lake are particularly beautiful. Tees, fairways and greens were very well maintained - we had a wonderful day in wonderful weather, and the friendliness of the members contributed to this. The price for the green fee is of course pretty decent at 300.00!

Impudence

Played there on November 19th, 2023. Apart from the greens, the place is in good condition and beautifully laid out. Unfortunately, the staff is a disgrace. The bags weren't even put on the buggy but simply placed in front of it. Never experienced it! There was no water in the car, let alone fruit. The manager of this club should go to the Finca Cortesin golf course for a day. Then he would know how to do it! It's quite obvious that guests are not welcome. For €300 it's a disgrace. Never again!!! Definitely not worth the money.

Had expected much more

The self-portrayal speaks of one of the "top ten" places in Europe (!). The RCG Sotogrande is a good distance away from that. If you measure the RCG against the top clubs in the vicinity, such as La Zagaleta or Finca Cortesin, but also La Reserva, this self-evaluation is incomprehensible. But one after anonther:
Positive: friendly reception by the secretariat, huge training area, overall well-kept place, but not exceptional.
Unfortunately, there are more negative things to report: The borrowed e-trolleys had a museum character, were almost impossible to steer and had no holder for balls or tees. The starts are every 6 minutes, which is much too short, so it already backs up after the first hole and you can hardly complete the round in less than 5 hours. The course layout is wide and clear, but relatively boring. The fairways okay in terms of maintenance, there was a lot to complain about on the greens. The lack of any labeling is really annoying: neither where to go to the next tee nor a graphic representation of the hole on a board with distance information. Ultimately, this reinforces the impression you get from the start: As a non-insider, commonly known as a green fee player, you are undesirable, even though the fees are steep. If you enter the club restaurant after your round and look around, there is a nicely decked area for members and a much less attractive part for the non-privileged. The range of food is measly, just sandwiches and the obligatory club toast. If you compare that with the finca or even better La Zagaleta, then you will be more than disappointed.
The RCG compares best with Los Naranjos, which has a similar layout, but costs a little more than half and has a great restaurant. The competition in this region is strong, so unfortunately only 3 stars

First League

A great golf course! A great facility overall. We (handicap 9) had the opportunity to play the course yesterday. The place is spacious, the fairways and greens in a 1a condition. Since we were invited by members, we played for a reduced green fee. At this time there is hardly any other possibility to get onto the course, apart from a crisp green fee (260 euros). The individual tracks are varied both in terms of difficulty and the view. The greens are consistent, fast and difficult to read.

Neat place

What will be remembered is the good care condition. Otherwise, a nice place, nice design, pleasant to play. Why not 5 stars? Price / performance I still see something critical. Places like Los Naranjos, La Quinta, Santana are equal to me and cost less than half. Sotogrande belongs here in the ranks with Aloha, Las Brisas and Valderrama. They do not really want green fee players. The price is pure defense. So if you want to play (like me), you have to dig a little deeper into your pocket.

Varied

The course itself is varied, well maintained and sophisticated greens. A really nice place, which can be completed well on foot. The (in part) lack of friendliness of the staff, the age of the trolleys as well as the lack of signs in the entire area and the slightly too high price cause us, not with 5 stars to rate.

A top spot!

Played end of January 2018.

Very friendly staff, wide fairways, no rough, some water, and fast, well defended greens.

The place is very easy to walk, a rarity on the Costa del Sol.

Easy golfing experience

November 17 played.
All in all a great place with varied holes.
Very nice location.
A MUST on the Costa del Sol. Hold something more expensive than other places, but you do not wait constantly and can easily play through.

The price-performance ratio is not right.

Preliminary, in the first week of March 2017 was in Marbella and played except Real Sotogrande yet Finca Cortesin, La Reserva,, Alferini, Santana and Santa Maria. Myself am a bogey player.
The fairways In Sotogrande are not well maintained, have been the price / performance Vehältnis not true at all, still a warm welcome in the office, the bag is a picked up the car. Cart must not be behind us was a triple Flight with hitters the one almost constantly played in his heels. No Marshall was seen. The first nine holes are slightly hilly, the second nine I personally found beautiful.
The electric trolleys for € 18, - old and difficult to steer, no brakes.
Overall, the place was nevertheless a disappointment for me, perhaps I had imagined too much

Solid and expensive high-frequency

Played on 15/09/2016. The slightly hilly 18-hole course (cart not required) is close to the sea in the middle of Nobelvillenort Sotogrande. Something unusual that one is not after 9 holes at the clubhouse but at the other end of the square. Man playing between the houses, but not interfere with the game, in absolute peace and nature. The individual holes are varied and created with all challenges for serious golfers. There are doglegs, well placed bunkers, water hazards and now and possibly even a blind stroke. Some of the tees are elevated with beautiful views and are open so that higher HC should come clear. There is a HC-limiting (H24 / D30), but no one has asked us. The condition in our game was first class. However, the greens were covered due to the high cycle operation about noon with pitch marks and spike marks. Whatever the game mode is the problem. For guests there is only at lunchtime start times. We were one of the few two flights that had, however, before us a group of about 20 men who played an internal tournament. Unfortunately, it was tagged and the use of carts is not far away. Since the carts in certain areas on the court, as on the wrong side in addition to the discounts, and in front of the greens or on PAR 3's not drove, drove the men all the time backward and held so the game on. Since the Marshalls should intervene more. For pedestrians better signposting and especially tee panels would be desirable that such does not exist as well. Exemplary the toilets are on the court. Set in the stylish clubhouse / pro shop we were served relatively friendly. Also, the caddy master and especially the starters were very nice. Balls for the range, there are in a Grennfee from € 180 for nothing. However Trollys cost again 7 € per piece. Since the frequency is very strong, it can afford green fees call at the level of the club. Safe around 50 - € 80 too much. If you book online through the website will receive a small discount. Overall we place has positively surprised. Too bad that you can not sit in the sun on the terrace of the clubhouse after the round. For the mostly sunny and not always friendly members certainly very pleasant. One should have the space ever played, if one is in Sotogrande.

The most beautiful place on the Costa del Golf

Although all Club (starting in the Secretariat), the nose is very high, it is probably the most beautiful place, even before Valderama and Almenara. Insanely fast and hard greens demand precise play and high concentration. Fairways inviting to lose balls a feat. The green fee is not a bargain but this place adequate.
PS: at some outpost:
One should not only before the game have humility but also respect the pride of the Spaniards. Then the game on this course an experience!

Sure perfect in the spring

The only course of our journey, you could not beu GolfHub book. But over the Konatktformular the website it was still easily within a day.

Sorry, we're having a bad time caught - November 2014 - and the first nine were short eingesäht previously completely new. So it was all quite soft and the fairway was not very tight. There were then but also a discount, pp. € 120 incl. Kart. Range balls are extra.

The greens, however, were all fine (and fast!) And also the second nine were in great condition. Also around it, all the houses and gardens were spotless clean. Partly a feast for the eyes. Back out some holes play under the palm trees like in Florida.

The wind comes into play often times, but the fairways are mostly broad and fair. Balls can you lose only the water. Some hill yet, but everything's alright. The entire course is created varied.

If the Front9 is overgrown in the spring, I think this is a 5-star place.

Arrogance to the square and high green fee price...

Are... a catastrophic combination and for a club of that name not worthy. We are on vacation in the area and wanted to play the course next week and available for purchase in preparation for a Birdie Book. Scathing remarks of the two ladies in the ProShop, we may be interfering with your intense conversation could, reverse us right back. A Birdiebook's only when you play a round with us and costs € 6, - if you do not play does it cost € 10, -
The place seems great to be cared for, but maybe you should teach the staff at the ProShop manners towards the guests, then we will eventually try again.

Impressive Course

The course is very well maintained and the environment is very beautiful admitted. A typical Robert T. Jones and Golfpatz here with a twist. The green fee was reasonable in the 90s, now there are better alternatives for the price. A very nice and diversified Golf Course.

Catastrophic price / performance ratio

Have a place at the 17th January at the discounted price of 147 €! played.
The reception is arrogant and rude as I have experienced it anywhere else on the Costa del Sol.
Equal to 1 tea in the middle of the fairway in the distance, an excavator driver, who had dug a huge hole. All the greens were pressed so hard that no ball could hold. But there was nowhere pitch marks. Also a way to keep greens in optical weft.
Einizges Plus, therefore gives also 2 stars: The course has a nice layout.
