Fantastic!

I found this course purely by chance online and decided to take a chance having mainly played on the west and central Algarve courses.
Although a good hour and a half drive from Carvoeiro we arrived in good time having booked online 4 days before... easy access off the A22 the clubhouse is situated on top of a hill with stunning views of the Guadiana and the golf course.
The receptionist greeted us with a smile and some extremely useful information related to the course.
Front nine is reasonably flat but a hell of a lot of water which comes into play!!!
Back nine is hilly and a buggy would be advisable.
Greens were superb as were the fairways... excellently maintained...
Value for money... fantastic.
Just one tiny little niggle... bunkers need a wee bit of attention.
A brilliant course... well worth a visit!
Would recommend this to all golfers alike.

Interesting layout - lots of water

This is a very nice golf course. Interesting layout with 6 par 3,6 par 4 and 6 par 5. Hole 1-10 have a lot of water hazards, so you need to have a good strategy for your play. It is specially true on hole 1 and hole 10.

It is not a very expensive golfcourse, and the maitenance standard might be a little under average, but I find it acceptable even if it is abselutely not "Monte Rei" standard.
Only the bunkers are really bad without much sand and very few rakes.

The golfcourse is walkable and the staff friendly and easygoing.
The clubhouse, the restaurant and the bar are very good

I played it many times in November 2015 and in march 2016 and would love to play it again later this year.

Phew

There's hard and there's hard but Quinto da Vale is all of that. But what a challenge! Lost quite a few balls but largely due to lack of course knowledge. Need to play twice! Magnificent views. Great holes. We loved it.

BEST VALUE for MONEY

Monte Francisco can feel blessed that the world famous player Severiano Ballesteros perpetuated himself by designing such a beautiful golf course on its land. Next to the magnificent view, I enjoyed playing the second 9 holes with two double-bogeys only. If players like me are not as skilled, I would recommend playing the second 9 holes once or twice. Otherwise, one may lose too many balls in the water. But, a good golfer will be highly delighted by the challenge. And with my next bestseller, I might be able to afford golf lessens and join the team of the whiz.

For me, the cost-benefit-ratio is most relevant. I bet, you won't find a better deal in the entire Algarve!

Nice place at a good level

I played the course in June 2023. He was in good condition. Unfortunately - due to the heat - very little was going on, which is why the restaurant was not open. The pro shop can certainly be expanded. All of the staff were incredibly nice and helpful.

The course itself is varied and challenging. You have to play a lot of tactics to get a good result here. Unfortunately, numerous ruined buildings adorn the square in sight, which is why the overall appearance suffers a bit. Some construction company of the Covid period has probably fallen victim here. The first 9 holes are flat, the second 9 holes are hilly. It is advisable to rent a buggy.

The price/performance ratio is unbeatable in the Algarve.

All in all, an absolutely recommendable place. If I'm in the area I'll definitely play it again.

Varied course in good maintenance condition

I played the course in February 23.
The weather was extremely windy that day, resulting in a total of 8 lost balls. The place was in good maintenance condition. Overall, a very varied place. A few flat holes at the beginning, but they are made difficult by a lot of water (especially when it is windy).
The second 9 are then with less water in play, but with some differences in height.
I paid €88 for 18 holes including cart - an absolutely fair price!
The staff in the clubhouse was extremely friendly.
Would play the course again at any time.

18 interesting holes on the border with Spain with lots of water

Played on 9/8/2022. The 18-hole course (6 x PAR 3.6 x PAR 4.6 x PAR 5) designed by Seve Ballesteros is the easternmost course in the Algarve and is located a little inland, practically right on the Spanish border, on the Guadiana River in absolute tranquility and nature. A resort is supposed to be built around the square. Some villas/houses are already built, but unfortunately there are also ruins. That doesn't bother us much, it's just not always nice to look at. The course is particularly impressive on holes 1 to 10 with many water hazards that require strategic play. Sometimes it is even necessary to cover two water hazards on one track. Higher HC should take a few more balls with them on the round. Lanes 1 to 10 are rather flat and lanes 11 to 18 are hilly. A highlight is certainly hole 17 with a 90 degree dogleg and then a game about 30 meters into the valley. You can walk the course but a cart can be recommended for those who are not quite as athletically ambitious. Otherwise, bunkers and slight doglegs come into play again and again. High rough is rare, more isolated olive trees. From some elevated tees you have a nice view of the area up to the Spanish border and the prominent motorway bridge that connects Portugal and Spain across the river. The overall condition was okay, even if one or the other green had a few spots. Unfortunately, the sand in the bunkers was sometimes very hard, so that a shot from it was rather difficult. The game operation was very manageable on a Wednesday afternoon. The two of us were able to start playing at the desired start time and had almost no flights in front of us or behind us. Most of them probably play here in the mornings. The clubhouse with a small pro shop and restaurant (not used) is modern and looks nice. The ladies at the counter were friendly and explained everything to us in detail as first-time players. There is no caddy master or starter. The two of us paid €118 green fee with a cart, which can be described as cheap for the Algarve. However, the cart had no GPS, but there were at least two small bottles of water on the round. The cart was ready in the basement in front of the caddy hall, where the toilets and changing rooms are. On the round there are several quite acceptable toilets. We only saw a caddy bar briefly from afar, but then we didn't come by again. I can definitely recommend the round on the square, as it never gets boring and there are sufficient views of the landscape.

Great place, best price-performance ratio

Course in good condition, beautiful fairways, well-kept bunkers, well playable greens. Demanding from the layout. Staff friendly, not as busy as the other places here. The whole thing for a reasonable price, not overpriced like some other places.
The ruins are limited to a handful of houses and do not disturb in any way, as only next to a train. For me in the area the place for most laps. The members are also open and friendly.

Clear recommendation

Interesting place 2

I can only agree with the pre-evaluation. Really nice place that was fun to play. The ruins at the edge diminish the overall impression. Play again if we're in the corner again? Yes.

Interesting place

Care condition average to good. Very interesting layout, initially flat through a lake landscape then through the hills. One notices that with Seve Ballesteros a master of his subject has influenced the design. Nice clubhouse terrace. The houses remaining in the shell state are not exactly a beautiful sight

Highly Recommended!

Due to the bad reviews the state accordingly, we drove with mixed feelings to the plant. We were positively surprised in all respects. Whether in the clubhouse, the Marshall or the pro, everyone was attentive and friendly. The course was in excellent condition despite the dry summer. The greens were already deducted in the morning from the dew and were pretty fast and in top form.
The course offers a total of very (sometimes challenging) beautiful tracks.
We had a great day here and will play it again the day after tomorrow.

Bad condition, extraterrestrial service

Three of us played this course, my wife, my son and myself. Our little daughter accompanied us in the buggy as a passenger. At hole 8 the Marshall told us that my daughter had to leave the place because she was wearing jeans and this contradicted etiquette. The place was nearly empty (31.12.), My daughter sat quietly in the buggy, we did not bother anyone, ... I think this is petty. I know the etiquette and would never play with jeans, but a little girl in a buggy ... ?? The money for the half round was not refunded! In addition, one could have pointed out to us at the beginning of the round, my daughter was in the Proshop when we paid the green fee... never again will see me there

Otherwise, actually a nice layout, but in very bad condition

Still: nice place, bad condition

Played the course in the fall of 2016 and due to the positive rating of JB from B of. 3 weeks ago in good place played again. Unfortunately, the greens were miserable: all provided with countless brown spots that have deflected the ball unpredictably, to very slowly. Bunker with extremely little sand. Too bad for a really nice place. For the condition he is too expensive.

Great Place

Great place with challenging tracks, the criticism of poor condition I can not confirm in any way. Maybe the negative reviews have led to this improvement. Greens are relatively slow but in good condition. The place emits a huge peace, favors also because of low occupancy. Really worthwhile to play here. Anyway, we will gladly come back.

Good layout, poor condition

Space layout designed by no less than Seve Ballesteros is very challenging, both for better and weaker players. Unfortunately, the surrounding area broke, as witnessed by many buildings around the area. Probably suffering from this also the condition, starting from the driving range which is really only suitable for warming up to the partial rocky bunkers of the place. Two lanes of waste area are completely dry, which makes no effort and narrow the really narrow holes to a highway. Overall, a lot of air upwards, which is probably only to be filled by a financial syringe.
Staff very helpful and friendly.

Potential

A varied, interesting, and extensive anforderderungsreicher, designter by Severiano Ballesteros still alive and realized space. The front nine includes a lot of water and the back nine are quite hilly. Therefore, it is advisable to hire a buggy. to achieve fair course for all skill levels, but which requires strategic play and calculating in the treacherous wind requires a good score. The fairways and greens were in good condition, but they should be watered more often. The semi roughs and further afield are unfortunately left to nature and therefore a little murky the overall impression. According to information will soon take over the resort and breathe new life into an investor and a new operating company. Hopefully it'll work, because it would be a pity for the masterpiece of Ballesteros. The green fee with buggy for two people for a total of € 119.- is definitely worth the longer drive.
The clubhouse offers a great view and the snacks offered are good and inexpensive.

Super interesting holes!

Both for yellow as white arise at nearly every hole different ways (my Hcp: 7), which can be a round pleasure.
Seen in need of space hardly hide behind Monte Rei. Unfortunately iS care already, because esp. The bunker (currently no sand in many of them) and at least 2 tracks (completely dried) are urgently improved.
But if that is not always so, you should definitely stay here play !! .. and so bad maintenance deficiencies were not ...! :)

Beautiful place, bad condition

Very beautiful and challenging holes. Unfortunately the greens were not mowed short enough, certainly not newly plugged the holes already 3 days, Fairway not raked with much long grass, the bockel tough bunkers and since eternity.

A place to fall in love

Now we have been playing are 3 years this place and have still not enough. The site offers a lot of variety and it does not run right. Water hazards tempt the power play, which can be immediately punished by losing possession. An E-Car is useful because the 2nd 9 holes are somewhat hilly. Beautiful clubhouse with freudlichem staff, with a great view on many paths.

So pack a few more balls and have FUN.

Winter prices are great, we paid for 2 Player with E-Car under 100 Euro

Super Site

A great place with friendly staff. The condition is ok. A place with all you could wish to play golf.

Water and hillsides make the game varied. An e-cart is recommended.

The view from the clubhouse is simply priceless and is marred only by a few unfinished buildings. A small menu invites you to linger.

Many Bahne are from the clubhouse cost.

So necessarily play this course. The price (for two players with e-cart under 100 Euro) is worth the space.

Necessarily play

Played Januar 2015th

A beautiful place with sporty Herrausvorderung. The winter price until the middle of February at 90 euros for 2 players with buggy was appropriate.

Nice service in the clubhouse with a small meal card, but ok.

The view from the clubhouse is marred only by some derelict buildings.

We played this course several times. A start was time to get more.

Next winter we spend the winter in the area and play this course. definitely be back.

E caddy recommended ;-)

In the course of eastalgarve Trophy we were here.
A challenging course, but still great. Supervisors play golf focus and do not look around in the area ;-)!

E caddy or buggy is recommended as hilly.

Price is right!

So here is true, the ratio of price and performance. Have Twighlight from 13h played for 32 € including buggy. For this price, the place is good! While not as green and lush as other courses in the Algarve, but I've also paid little! Fairways have other plants aks only grass, greens were good. Absolutely traveling alone around 13:30 what a fast lap allowed.
Very nice terrace with a view of many holes in the system.
Who is tired of the crowds in the squares in Vilamoura, should play low times here.

On the fairway grows much more...

I have played the course in Frebruar 2014.

Green fee € 30 in Twillight tariff from 14:00 clock (18:00 to good light)

Access to the complex is very nicely decorated. At second glance you realize quickly however that the concept does not seem to be addressed, "Living in the golf course." Although a number of villas seem roughly finished, to have been until today but probably never inhabited.
The nice ladies at the front desk advised me enough to take balls. And this tip is allowed as not too good golfer gladly consider. Lanes 1 up to and including 10 feature any contact with water surfaces... Who lets so much balls to the divers should jump again quickly before hole 10 into the clubhouse and reloading.
Although the place of the care condition is really fits very nicely into the landscape been more than questionable. The greens were ok, but the rest.. So on the fairway (as was to recognize it) also grew lawn but also a lot of other things.
The terrace at the clubhouse is great - sensational view over large parts of the club across to Spain.
Conclusion: Here is the saying "what costs nothing is nothing!" Only to sit on the terrace, I would go back again - to never play in this state, however.

Poor maintenance

Layout of the course is definitely fun, especially from hole 8 if you go into the mountains. But man! That seems really nowhere to maintenance, the job is simply to waste away. Therefore any location bald, you could almost be a local rule not made ready to enter. Letdown!

Best price / performance ratio, east of Faro

The fairways are created tricky but fair and it is mediocre to very good golfers will certainly never boring in the round (with the different strong winds from different directions during the day additionally help).
On many holes, bad shots are punished with loss of the ball and it (possibly those with experience = Used balls) is recommended in case of doubts about their own abilities to possibly slightly cheaper than usual dodge balls. With each additional round you know the place a little better and defensive play at dangerous locations reduces the turnovers to a considerable degree (and thus the feeling of satisfaction increases during subsequent drink on the beautiful terrace of the clubhouse).
The greens were last winter in top condition with the fairways improvements are possible (depend strongly driven by the maintenance costs and because of the type of grass used also together with the temperatures overnight).

What a pity!

This place is really very interesting and varied. Great layout, with never a dull moment.

But: When we played the course in February 2012, he was completely dried up. Only the greens were watered, everything else was bone dry and pale. You might as well try to beat out a concrete slab a divot - it makes little fun. Obviously lack the money, as with many other "Imobilienplätzen" in the region.

The spectacular view from the clubhouse terrace compensated only partially.

A Ballesteros at first sight

Even the view from the clubhouse over the course of the typical south-Ballesteros bunker catches the eye.

Tip: In summer play with buggy, the hills are not to be underestimated. Also take a lot of balls, especially the many water on the first 9 swallowed some.

Overall, the place is very beautiful and we had a nice round. Especially the "19th hole" not miss the view from the terrace is wonderful!

Long course and long distances

The sometimes very steep trails make this hilly course to a sporting challenge. With condition problems a buggy is recommended. Caution: in heavy rain on the previous days is because of the clayey subsoil not a buggy. The drainage of the square is a problem.
The place is fun. The fairways are wide, pleasant panorama. The restaurant with the beautiful view from the terrace is worth a linger after the round.
