Fantastic!

I found this course purely by chance online and decided to take a chance having mainly played on the west and central Algarve courses.
Although a good hour and a half drive from Carvoeiro we arrived in good time having booked online 4 days before... easy access off the A22 the clubhouse is situated on top of a hill with stunning views of the Guadiana and the golf course.
The receptionist greeted us with a smile and some extremely useful information related to the course.
Front nine is reasonably flat but a hell of a lot of water which comes into play!!!
Back nine is hilly and a buggy would be advisable.
Greens were superb as were the fairways... excellently maintained...
Value for money... fantastic.
Just one tiny little niggle... bunkers need a wee bit of attention.
A brilliant course... well worth a visit!
Would recommend this to all golfers alike.

This is a very nice golf course. Interesting layout with 6 par 3,6 par 4 and 6 par 5. Hole 1-10 have a lot of water hazards, so you need to have a good strategy for your play. It is specially true on hole 1 and hole 10.
It is not a very expensive golfcourse, and the maitenance standard might be a little under average, but I find it acceptable even if it is abselutely not "Monte Rei" standard.
Only the bunkers are really bad without much sand and very few rakes.
The golfcourse is walkable and the staff friendly and easygoing.
The clubhouse, the restaurant and the bar are very good
I played it many times in November 2015 and in march 2016 and would love to play it again later this year.

There's hard and there's hard but Quinto da Vale is all of that. But what a challenge! Lost quite a few balls but largely due to lack of course knowledge. Need to play twice! Magnificent views. Great holes. We loved it.

Monte Francisco can feel blessed that the world famous player Severiano Ballesteros perpetuated himself by designing such a beautiful golf course on its land. Next to the magnificent view, I enjoyed playing the second 9 holes with two double-bogeys only. If players like me are not as skilled, I would recommend playing the second 9 holes once or twice. Otherwise, one may lose too many balls in the water. But, a good golfer will be highly delighted by the challenge. And with my next bestseller, I might be able to afford golf lessens and join the team of the whiz.
For me, the cost-benefit-ratio is most relevant. I bet, you won't find a better deal in the entire Algarve!

I played the course in June 2023. He was in good condition. Unfortunately - due to the heat - very little was going on, which is why the restaurant was not open. The pro shop can certainly be expanded. All of the staff were incredibly nice and helpful.
The course itself is varied and challenging. You have to play a lot of tactics to get a good result here. Unfortunately, numerous ruined buildings adorn the square in sight, which is why the overall appearance suffers a bit. Some construction company of the Covid period has probably fallen victim here. The first 9 holes are flat, the second 9 holes are hilly. It is advisable to rent a buggy.
The price/performance ratio is unbeatable in the Algarve.
All in all, an absolutely recommendable place. If I'm in the area I'll definitely play it again.

The 18-hole course (6 x PAR 3.6 x PAR 4.6 x PAR 5) designed by Seve Ballesteros is the easternmost course in the Algarve and is located a little inland, practically right on the Spanish border, on the Guadiana River in absolute tranquility and nature. A resort is supposed to be built around the square. Some villas/houses are already built, but unfortunately there are also ruins. That doesn't bother us much, it's just not always nice to look at. The course is particularly impressive on holes 1 to 10 with many water hazards that require strategic play. Sometimes it is even necessary to cover two water hazards on one track. Higher HC should take a few more balls with them on the round. Lanes 1 to 10 are rather flat and lanes 11 to 18 are hilly. A highlight is certainly hole 17 with a 90 degree dogleg and then a game about 30 meters into the valley. You can walk the course but a cart can be recommended for those who are not quite as athletically ambitious. Otherwise, bunkers and slight doglegs come into play again and again. High rough is rare, more isolated olive trees. From some elevated tees you have a nice view of the area up to the Spanish border and the prominent motorway bridge that connects Portugal and Spain across the river. The overall condition was okay, even if one or the other green had a few spots. Unfortunately, the sand in the bunkers was sometimes very hard, so that a shot from it was rather difficult. The game operation was very manageable on a Wednesday afternoon. The two of us were able to start playing at the desired start time and had almost no flights in front of us or behind us. Most of them probably play here in the mornings. The clubhouse with a small pro shop and restaurant (not used) is modern and looks nice. The ladies at the counter were friendly and explained everything to us in detail as first-time players. There is no caddy master or starter. The two of us paid €118 green fee with a cart, which can be described as cheap for the Algarve. However, the cart had no GPS, but there were at least two small bottles of water on the round. The cart was ready in the basement in front of the caddy hall, where the toilets and changing rooms are. On the round there are several quite acceptable toilets. We only saw a caddy bar briefly from afar, but then we didn't come by again. I can definitely recommend the round on the square, as it never gets boring and there are sufficient views of the landscape.
