Played in Nov 23 and the golf course is looking better then it plays.
I liked it a bit better then the North course but the comments are pretty much the same:
Quite a bit up and down, greens are not very fast and the ball does not roll a bit on the fairways.
Where it drops it stopps.

We played today, but were not really happy. First we had to pay 50€ for a cart with a torn sit cushion, then three guys were standing around and didn’t load our bags to the cart. Then we had to pay 7 € for a basket of driving range balls, I would rather recommend to play at Monte Rey where staff is much more friendly and cart is included.
That’s not the quality related to the high prices what a golfer would expect!
A good resort course

The course has always been a good test of golf and generally very well maintained. Most fairways wind between the pine trees but they are fairly generous. The greens are large so 2 putts cannot be guaranteed. Over the years the course and surrounds have been tidied up and it all looks good and plays well. Having said all that, beware of the 8th as even the best drive for most golfers will still result in playing your next from either the rough or from under some trees - it is unfair and a poor design.
A word of warning, you may expect a very slow round if playing at certain times.

After the renovation, Quinta do Lago South is certainly one of the best places in the Algarve.
The condition is excellent in all areas of the place. There's really nothing to criticize there.
The layout offers exciting holes with well-placed bunkers and fast, undulating greens.
This gives you a place that is worth playing.
Everyone has to answer for themselves whether that is worth almost €200.
In winter with green fees of less than 100 - € but definitely a place you have to play.

Played on 8/25/2022. The South and North courses share a clubhouse in the posh resort of Quinta do Lago in the town of Almancil. Not far away is the famous Val de Lobo golf course. The southern course is slightly hilly and a cart is recommended for those who are not quite as sporty. You rarely see players without a cart. The resort course is pleasant without the really big highlights, but it doesn't get boring either. There are doglegs, well-placed bunkers and the greens are mostly slightly undulating. There are also a few water hazards, for example on the 15 (PAR 3) carry from the men's tee about 150m above water. One or two fairways are also very far from the men's tee, so normal golfers will have difficulty reaching them. But there is hardly any high rough, so that you can hardly lose a ball on wide open tees. You play past mostly glamorous villas. Most are finished, there are still a few construction sites. The condition was almost perfect. Lush green fairways, well-kept and fast greens. The sand in the bunkers is so loose and white that it blinded me. Game operations on a Thursday afternoon at the end of August were manageable. At least we were able to play through to 10 without running into the game. I had previously requested and booked a desired start time by e-mail. In this case you have to pay in advance by credit card, just like if you book online directly via the homepage. There was a “special price/summer special” for “only” €119 per person including a cart (with GPS). Each player was given a mini bottle of water for the round. The pro shop staff, caddymaster and starter were all friendly. On the terrace of the club restaurant you can sit and have a snack after your round. However, the choice of food is limited to mainly toast and burgers. The service is fixed and the prices are moderate. In addition to the driving range, there is another restaurant that is constantly advertised on the GPS of the cart, with a larger selection of dishes. In addition, the buggy bar comes by several times during the round. If you like resort golf, a round here can be recommended.
