Characteristics
The outstanding course is situated in the middle of a nature reserve between Sintra and Cascais. The first and last three holes are situated in a valley, lined by pine trees and granite rocks. The holes 6 to 13 spread over a hill and over a wide view on the environment. Penha Longa is concordantly clled one of the Portugal's best course by profi-golfers.

We really liked the place, especially scenic and with some playful challenges. Very friendly and service-oriented staff both at reception and at the caddy master. You can hear the race track (Estoril) a bit, but it didn't bother us much. There is also another connected 9-hole course (monestery course), which is also challenging and should have been played. Unfortunately, the tee boxes were a bit uneven. Those who are good on their feet can walk, but there is some elevation gain and distance between holes to overcome.
