Characteristics

The course is situated in a terminal moraine between the Teutoburg Forest and the Wiehen mountain ridge in a scenic rural area with a lively and diversified topography. Although the course featuring 37 bunkers is rather short, it still provides for a few real challenges: the natural hazards as well as the treetops of massive oak trees and beeches bending down onto the fairways make it hard to score. Leading Course!

There are often snapshots when you play a golf course.
Paid €60 green fee for 18 holes on a hot and dry summer day. I was able to play out on the 10 to get out before the men's tournament.
The entire place is surrounded by old and tall trees and was in top condition. Fast greens, everything perfectly mowed and the narrow Woodland Forest lanes, absolutely great! The Leading Course is a classic, old forest course that you should have played once!

No leading golf course

As cosmopolitan golf passionists who like to play leading golf courses worldwide, we played the course in October during the week in good weather conditions. The condition of the fairway was mostly ok, sometimes very wet, which is probably due to the rain of the last few days. However, the greens were very slow, not on track and not only unworthy of ambitious golfers. You can and must expect more from a leading golf course, despite the season. The often hilly fairways are partly neatly embedded in the forest, but you never play alone. In the OGC, the neighboring lanes are close together and the tea boxes on the next lane are often right behind the greens. Other parkland courses, e.g. Hamburg Falkenstein, exude more charm here. Due to the hilly topography, blind teeshots and fairway shots occur again and again; because of the lean angles, good strokes are sometimes punished.
Some members didn't seem to have a good day when we played. Many have missed the etiquette very much. Some flights didn't say hello, in front of us a 5 flight (!) Played 7 lanes and suddenly flights appeared in front of us, which apparently shortened lanes and stopped us on the full lap. We looked in vain for a marshal.
To our regret, the performance of the e-cart decreased, so that we had to push the cart from the 16th lane when climbing on the lanes.
All in all, it can be said that the OGC is very lucky to have the title of Leading Golf Course, as the club clearly drops when it comes to the "trappings" and, above all, the maintenance status compared to other leading golf courses. You can ask for more from a leading golf course than is offered here.

Great Place

We were completely satisfied. Very friendly welcome and the place presented itself in perfect condition. Plenty of trees, so it is easier to reach the goal with a more defensive style of play ;-)
