Characteristics

The Modena Golf & Country Club is situated in a strategic position and it can be reached, quickly and easily, from any direction. In fact downtown Modena (only 10 km away), Sassuolo, Vignola, Carpi and other interesting towns are all nearby. Spread over 100 hectares and built following a design by the German champion Bernhard Langer, assisted by the American architect Jim Eng from Boulder, Colorado, this course is one of the finest in Italy. The wide greens and tees, the smoothly winding fairways, the large “hungry” bunkers and the numerous, extra-large water hazards make this course the ideal venue for top level competitions such as the Italian Open, which celebrated its 50th edition here. An executive course, a well equipped driving range and two tennis courts complete the sports facilities on offer. The club also features: a fine gourmet restaurant, where sophisticated and local dishes can be relished, a cosy bar and coffee-shop, two swimming pools, a billiard room and TV and card lounges to welcome players and their guests after their golfing “efforts”.

Not To Be Missed: The Ferrari Formula 1 Museum at Maranello. In Modena, visit the Cathedral and its “Ghirlandina” bell tower, the former Duke’s Palace, now home of the National Military Academy, Saint Agostino’s church, the Estense Library and Museum. Visit Nonantola and its ancient Abbey, the piazza and castle in Carpi, Vignola and its Castle, the “Salse di Nirano” Regional Natural Park and take some time to explore some of the outstanding gourmet restaurants, which have turned the Modena province into one of the finest culinary destinations in the world.

Boring Course

Driver and n°7, Driver and n°6, Driver and Pitch, Driver and n°6... and so on : ...all the par 4 and par 5 are similiar. Golf is another thing for me! Good for new golfers who only wants to bang.

Stay Away

If you want to shot your drive, you can play at Modena course, but igìf you want to play golf... stay away. The course is long but boring. Grees are terrible! Fairways always wet (i played with sunny, but everywhere with water in my shoes) . Bad restaurant and restrooms. Staff not friendly and green fee too expensive.

Once upon a time…

For an Italian course, it's quite well maintained; a lovely park, the fairways are okay, the greens are nice but very slow. The paths are nonexistent and unfortunately neglected off the fairways. The course isn't difficult to play, but only one par 3 and the 18th hole are truly memorable. The clubhouse and restaurant have also seen better days; it feels like being in a train station.

Dear Guest, Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you appreciated the care of our park and the overall maintenance of the course.

Regarding your technical observations, we would like to clarify that our greens currently maintain an average Stimpmeter speed of 9.62 feet. If you played in the afternoon, it is likely that the smoothness was affected by the natural daily growth of the grass and foot traffic throughout the day—factors that can alter the perception of speed compared to the morning sessions.

As for the paths, our management philosophy aims to keep them to a minimum to preserve the natural aesthetic of the park; they are, in fact, only present in areas with heavy golf cart traffic. This same philosophy leads us to leave the out-of-play marginal areas with spontaneous vegetation.

Finally, we are sorry that the atmosphere of the clubhouse was not to your liking. Our facility boasts a modern, linear design that intentionally departs from the classic or traditional style of other clubs. This architectural choice focuses on functionality and natural light, though we understand it may not suit the taste of those who prefer a more rustic setting.

We hope to welcome you back to our fairways soon to provide you with an even more memorable experience.

Best regards
