I played the course in May 2013.
The place is accessible only by foot, very beautiful old trees.
Suitable for beginners and no gradients, very well maintained condition.
I was invited by some older members to a common round, even the green fee was donated to me. A wonderfully nice gesture to have me then retaliates with my flight with a round stock.

The road to King James VI GC is almost worth the trip. It lies on the Moncreiffe island in the river Tay and beside the golf club is just a small allotments there. Just walking the golf club is accessible at low tide or when a small transition in the river is free to supply vehicles. In any case, the ordinary golfer must run across the drawbridge. I was lucky there was not a train, but can imagine that it is quite noisy when driving next to a 40 cm along a train. After about 10-12 minutes walk to the island you get to the club. Tee times should be booked in the summer before, since the majority of the members and guests in the high retirement age and it can be very crowded in the morning. This is the place on an island, you hardly notice. All fairways and greens were in excellent condition when I visited and all the bunkers were clean and without deep scars. You get on the court with hardly aware of it, that one is almost in the center of Perth. The sound of water and the chirping of birds provide relaxation and shady trees line the many fairways can protect a well from the sun. The place itself is very well suited for beginning golfers, as there is hardly an undulating fairway. On the greens are relatively easy to read. For Longhhitter likely almost all par 4 greens from the tee to be accessible. Oh, and for all who want to play an Old Tom Morris course is probably a more cost effective solution than many of the links courses designed by him.
