The club is situated at the at the edge of the Lueneburg Heath in a softly hilly area of the Harburg Mountains. Eleven holes are embedded in the mixed forest; The last seven holes lead the golfer over free terrain. Very nice course

I would like to join first of all. The tee boards are not traditional but outdated. On the other hand: Get an App! Otherwise: What a great place! Hilly to mountainous and within sight (from the terrace) of Hamburg.

Great condition, fairways top, greens too. Only the bunkers really have too little sand and too many stones.

And the "map" in the clubhouse is really a disappointment. Even if the currywurst is delicious. Nevertheless: The gastronomy really only deserves very few stars.

However, it was so much fun playing that we will definitely be back!

Leading golf? Disappointing…

Played early June 2023, HCP 14

So that there is no misunderstanding - of course "Hittfeld" is not really a bad place. The layout of the fairways is varied, although the dominant element is the narrowness of the fairways caused by the forest. It is largely wonderfully quiet (only rarely does a larger plane fly high over the site), the facility is scenically very beautiful, the lanes run uphill / downhill through the old forest.

Because of this "mountain landscape" we recommend a cart to all those who don't like it particularly strenuous. And that brings us to the "bad" criticism.

The carts are a bit old. They do not have any extras (ball washer, cool box, etc. and above all: NO GPS) and the condition leaves a lot to be desired. The parking brake of the specimen given to us jumped out again and again and the vehicle set off on its own. Annoying and not entirely harmless.

The condition of the place is similarly poor. The fairways are full of brown and bare spots - certainly partly due to the weather, but such problems were not observed to such an extent on other courses in the area in the same week. The poor condition of the bunkers certainly has nothing to do with the weather. Inconsistently dense sand, repeatedly interspersed with stones of all shapes and sizes - from pebbles to hand axes, everything is included... Only the greens can still be certified as being in acceptable condition.

The tee boards are also “poor”. Really nice in "old" wood look, but without any useful information (distance to obstacles, location of the following tee, etc.) that go beyond lane number, par, length and specification. Speaking of obstacles - they are mostly bunkers and trees - water comes into play at most twice and only "laterally", you can easily play "around it".

Big disappointment after the round. The "gastronomy" currently has no menu - but the very nice waitress knows the dishes on offer by heart - all FOUR (there are only snacks - salad with chicken, currywurst with fries, boulette with potato salad, baked potatoes with salmon - if I remember correctly...).

Sorry - overall this is absolutely disappointing for a "Leading Golf Course". "Leading" here (despite all the shortcomings) is currently only the green fee of regular EURO 90 (weekdays), plus 40, - for the decrepit cart.

Conclusion: The risk of repetition is definitely NOT given given the current price/performance ratio. I would be happy to read reviews that report clear improvements in the future... then try again. Currently just 3 stars because of the quiet location and the beautiful forest. (In the "Golf Bear Ranking": 5 out of 10 points.)

It was fun

Hilly place in the far north? I would not have thought that.
System is very well-kept including DR, great trees.
