Learn to play golf

I recently did a proficiency course in Puchheim, it was fun and it was successful, I will definitely continue and recommend the golf club in Puchheim.

Decent space with good training opportunities and room for improvement

First of all, if you know what it looked like at that place 5-6 years ago, you can see that something has been created there that doesn't need to hide. For about 2 years we can now speak of a full 9-hole course plus a 6-hole short course. We played there in August.

The reception - polite, competent, tidy.
The gastro afterwards - simple, good quality, cozy.
The training area - spacious, well-kept, but completely overcrowded on a Friday afternoon.

Now to the most important thing, the square:
9 well-tended fairways, which lack a bit of variety and challenge. Only lanes 2 (narrow landing zone) and 5 (well-defended green) require tactical considerations. Rough is almost completely out of the game, unless you twist the blow abnormally. The bunkers are well maintained and filled with enough sand, the greens a little soft and slow, and littered with pitch marks. Perhaps one should think about giving out pitch forks as starting gifts to the members instead of balls or Maxlrainer beer ... ;-).

However, 3 things urgently need to be improved:
Game speed - more than 2 hours are unacceptable for this course with short distances and almost no blind strokes and slopes. There was no marshal to be found.
Meaningful tee boards and signs are missing (luckily we had a member with us who knew the place) and the area between green 6 and tee 2 is an absolute security risk, as it is difficult to see. We almost got socketed away on Green 6. A protective net should urgently be considered here, especially since tee-offs from 6 that are too long can also hit lane 2. There are just a lot of beginners (please don't get me wrong, that's a good thing - everyone is a beginner in their life and this facility is a real added value for the promotion of golf) who naturally cannot assess their strokes very well.

Definitely recommended for the 9-hole after-work round, but not for a whole day of golf, as there is no price model for an 18-hole or even daily green fee. For almost 80 euros on a Sunday, there are much better alternatives in the Munich area.

Conclusion:
3 stars with potential for 4 if a few things can be improved.

Nice city golf course with defects

After our rather unappealing first visit in 2018 we played twice in 2019 on the much extended course.

Conclusion: Some have succeeded, as is the design of the railways successful, as, for example, in Germering. There is also more room overall.

However, the place in some respects still somewhat underdeveloped: At no discount there is information about the hole - length, bunkers, doglegs, etc. Just because the space is still missing on many GPS devices, an info here is urgently needed. In addition, there are no toilets, and the possibility to refill water bottles.

All in all, ok for the price, but I would go for € 10 and play a better course. But the concept seems to work: on the weekends almost nothing works here.

Hopefully we will continue to invest

We were now 3x play on the system, which (you should know) only since mid-2018 fully opened with all 9 holes. Reception was always friendly and green fees are "cheap", at least at first glance, but more on that later. Service therefore 1 star

To the course design:
The course itself is pretty easy. Essentially wide fairways to the green and there are always a few bunkers. The lie but sometimes quite treacherous, especially on train 2 and 3 train. Furthermore, there are 3 water hazards, but they are actually quite "tame". On tracks 6 and 9 (each par 3) you have to decide if you play over the water or safely outside. If one chooses the safe variant, the train is but no problem there. Note: The ladies tee on lane 9 actually lets the water out completely. Only on track 5 does the water come into play. In conjunction with the bunkers, the path to the green is significantly narrowed. That's our opinion, the most interesting place on the square. The other tracks are nice, but somehow missing interesting details. No cross-water, no trees that really "stand in the way", essentially play straight out and look that you can not get into a bunker. But even if that happens, you get out of there as well. Bunker height is rarely a problem. Nice we found the many waves and light hills on the square. No boring plate meadow, so you have to calculate the terrain a bit.
To the track length one must say: Here is not kept what is promised. With 2.8km (9 holes) or 5.6km (18 holes) anyway not super long, in particular the par 4 and par 5 holes are below average par 4: 3 x about 300 - 340m / 1x about 360m) and par 5 1x 410 and 1x 440m. At the par 3 you "travel" it out a bit by giving a par 3 with 200m, but what's the use? On a par 3 you should reward accuracy. But what really negatively noticed is that all the flags were always short and the discounts far ahead. So every track gets 20m shorter.
In total: 1/2 star for the design

The second 1/2 star is available for the catering in the clubhouse. Everything was very simple, with simple food in the sense of a snack. Ok, but not more. When the weather is nice you sit outside in front of the driving range.

But what is missing now? In a nutshell: somehow you can tell at every turn, that this is very "on the money" is looked. Do not get it wrong: Everyone is welcome, there are no snoops here, you clearly speak to the masses and probably want to make golf affordable for everyone. We think that's great and like to support it. Nevertheless, the concept has hitherto been at the expense of quality, as it seems to us. We noticed the following negative:
1. There are no explanations at the railways. When you play for the first time, you do not know what to expect. At the reception there are Birdiebücher (we have taken only the second time), but panels on the lanes are there simply point.
2. Especially on the weekend, the place is super crowded. Training area was hardly usable because everything was full. In addition there were still class lessons for felt 20 people, then there is the pitching green tight. It was a bit better during the week, but as soon as a course comes (which is probably more often here) it was over again.
3. The fairways are very mixed in quality. Lanes 2-6 (which have only been in existence since last year) have nothing to do with grass. There is no continuous grass cover, instead many stones, sand and weeds. The fairways are correspondingly hard. Significantly better on the tracks 7 - 9 that have been around for a while. It's fun here. One can only hope that the new tracks to align. If not, that's an absurdity.
4. Greens are well undulating but completely scarred. Explanation is simple. Nobody cares about the pitch marks here. Especially on the second and third time, we paid special attention to whether people bend downwards. Nothing to see. Result: greens strongly taken.
5. Furthermore, there is a lack of "service facilities" (loftily worded) on the railways. No benches if you have to wait... Ball washers or wastebaskets (!) Only every 3rd maximum 2nd train... toilets only in the clubhouse.
6. Disturbing too the different player quality and game speed. And now understand this correctly: nothing against slow players. Especially on such a course that is aimed at the masses and wants to make the golf game accessible, there are many beginners with test swings, short balls, wild ball flight, etc. Everything ok, only then you should also take into account. 10 min Flights just do not work there. That's just how it is. On the contrary, the beginners are quite under pressure and we had the impression the "regular, good players" promote that yet. The tee is about 5 minutes rather going on, although the flight before it is not even on the green and on the rest of the round it goes on. "You chase" the Vorderflight downright through the course. That is totally unacceptable. Logically, that the slower beginners are then completely out of rhythm and become very slow. The "fast players" seem to need this to confirm their self-image.

Conclusion: We have long considered whether you can not give 3 stars, but that just does not fit. 3 stars means "average" and this is not an average. At the most important point of a golf course, namely the quality of the fairways on the fairways and on the green it lacks just too clearly. But then that is also somehow the positive: If the operator works on this, then the place has a lot of potential. Put down a few boards, put the grass in order, and tell the ranger to tell everyone (!) Who goes green to get rid of a pitch mark, whether it's his own or not. Then maybe people get used to it and greens and fairways come to a reasonable state. Put down a few more signs (is only a one-time investment) e voila. You can only do a limited job of hiring the players, but at Tea 1 you could be aware that people are chatting at the right time and not too early. That would be a start.
Last but not least: Under the given aspects, the green fee relative: Under the week 30 EUR for 9 holes is then not really "cheap" and 60 EUR for 18 holes you can invest elsewhere significantly better. At the weekend it is again more expensive and the place is completely full. That's a bad investment.

Good value for money in the Munich area for 9-hole course

Have been playing this place now since the first year and played 09.09.2018 for the first time the new Platzteil with the new lanes. The course has become very nice (not yet perfect, but close) and good for beginners, as well as for advanced players. With two Par5 lanes and a length of almost 3000m, it is one of the longest 9-hole courses in Munich, as far as I know, and can be reached relatively quickly. The new 6-hole short course (all Par3) is also suitable for beginners and nicely laid out, but I would have liked at least a longer course over 150m. The clubhouse is rustic with basic sanitary facilities and nice service. (Drinks plus snacks available). The staff is very friendly and the teammates are usually very sociable. The only drawback: compressed air cleaner for the shoes and trolley is missing...

Currently no tip

Apparently, as early as August, the area will be completely redesigned and expanded: good thing. Currently, the holes are very short, moderately marked and not topp in good shape. A green must serve as green for 2 holes (!), The roughs are barely playable etc.
In view of the good situation, I will test again in the early autumn and report.

Golf course under construction with potential

Slowly slowly taking the place over the years advertised shape - the exercise area is very nice and größzügig - what is lacking is some (covered ranges, sanitation, etc.) and the 9 - hole course currently also only a short course. but When everything is done and the place is fully equipped, with integration of the existing avenues, the influx of golfers will not be long in coming. Currently prices mE little too high because the place still under construction is (as of August 2016)
