Characteristics

"The course wasn't forced into the landscape, but fits naturally in the terrain and follows the course of several clearings, which lie one behind the other. A ""bio""- course in the nature reserve- without the use of chemistry!"

Efforts visible

Apparently I'm the only one who rates the GCWW regularly. This time again and with joy. The greenkeeper team has systematically worked up the course over the course of last year and this year. It is and will remain a real natural course and you have to make compromises, for example on the greens, which do not have state-of-the-art irrigation, and accept the fact that you can occasionally watch a mole live as he works in the middle of the fairway... But Now the time has finally come that the place is really fun and the natural state is almost only more fun and no more trouble. Congratulations!

Significantly improved

After we (see last review) were very disappointed by the Vienna Woods, we only went there very sporadically. So this year too. Last on 9/26 and now we want to rate again:
A * has now become ***, because you can see that the course operator is doing a lot to make the course playable (again). For the first time, the greens have earned their name, they are still a bit removed from "good", but for the first time we were also able to clearly exclude a pre-green. The fairways are also better. The fact that whole mole dynasties prefer to dig there is something you have to endure. It would be good to level the fairways a little better, because it is absolutely impossible to calculate a bounce, the ball bounces where it wants to.
If things continue like this, we will come back more often.
Two suggestions: First: In order to bind players to the course, it would certainly make sense to offer discounted blocks of 10 for green fees. Second: There are many beginners there, nothing to complain about, the place is ideal for practicing. But unfortunately there are a lot of them who do not have a golf license and that is tedious.
If you stop at the Linde in Laaben afterwards, then you are not very far away from a great day of golf...

An impertinence

We are one of the most loyal players of the GC Wienerwald, as you can read in the two previous reviews. But now is the end and we will play elsewhere in the future: While until a year ago, the place was indeed a real natural place (with all the charms and weaknesses), so you could start but some nursing activities. Granted, the weather is extreme this year, but that does not excuse that the place is now a "Gstettn": The tea boxes zentimerterhoch covered with already withered oak leaves (you can see that long ago no one has operated more plant care), the greens burned, unkempt, with deep cracks and with completely worn out holes, which have never been implemented in this season so far. Even the fairways are not better, deep cracks alternate with molehills and numbers and a lawn that is just weeds, but never fairway-cut, but rough everywhere. Too bad that you can not upload any photos here, we have documented this today in detail, so that we can also prove this criticism. It was only recently by a in a convertible on the square (!) Driving gentlemen of the Murhof Group full-bodied assured that now everything would be different and better.
We (a group of 4 golfers) are unanimous in the opinion that we have never played such a neglected course in over 10 years of golf and that at least for a green fee of 39.- per person.
