Ups and downs

Played A and B. A was the nicer version. However, after the glowing reviews, we were a bit disappointed. So the A loop only developed from the 4th hole. The B loop is very open and is almost reminiscent of a shooting field. The condition of the fairways was rather borderline. Better laying was needed here. The green speed was standard, although B had the more challenging greens. We found the green fee to be reasonable. Unfortunately there were no towels.

B course left style

A note on the October review:

The B course links style has wavy and undulating greens.
The greens on the A and C course are all very flat.

You just have to make compromises if there is no more space available.

Pathetic links and beautiful forest

Played end of August 2022, HCP 14

We played the course combination B/C:
Course "B" is another course advertised as a "Links" course. Unfortunately, it's actually just a rather pathetic "left" attempt - it's just not enough to simply drill holes in a bare landscape with a little tall "fese-grass" and no trees worth mentioning. This results in a bare landscape with holes and a little high "fescue" without any trees worth mentioning, but still no "links" course! Plus POND (but no seashore)! The bunkers are also old-fashioned "normal" field, forest and meadow sand pits and have nothing in common with the "nasty" British pot bunkers.

This makes the course quite easy to play - the rough is quite thin, the balls are easy to find and generally playable without any problems.

Course "C", on the other hand, is a pretty nice parkland/forest course, so it's correspondingly narrow and quite difficult for anyone who can't play very consistently and precisely in a straight line (that's probably for most of us *sigh*).

Unfortunately, the greens play quite differently on the two 9-hole loops. On "B" they are still moderately fast and fairly level, on "C" they are very slow, but slightly undulating. The grass was way too high there, perhaps because these putt areas were recently freshly slit.

The relative tranquility of the entire area is nice - only rarely can you hear the train passing by in the distance or a small plane circling high above.

Less beautiful, however, the condition. The fact that the fairways were completely burnt due to the weather (there had been unusually high temperatures of over 30° Celsius for weeks beforehand) is not the fault of greenkeeping (this could certainly only be improved with unreasonably high effort and environmentally harmful measures) and hardly impedes the playability of the balls - it just doesn't look that nice. The balls roll "without end" - you can achieve fantastic distances - but sometimes the long journey ends in a bunker that "actually" seemed out of reach.
Unfortunately, however, the condition of these bunkers was pretty bad - like concrete with a wafer-thin layer of powdered sugar sand.
The condition of the haircuts was OK.

Speaking of "far" - a cart is recommended for everyone who doesn't like walking - the distances between the lanes are sometimes quite long.

Conclusion: Play when you're there anyway - you don't have to go there. Barely 3 stars, also because of the friendliness in the secretariat and because of the beautiful forest on course "C". (In the "Golf Bear Ranking": 5 out of 10 points.)

Varied top system

In mid-May 2022 we played combo B (left) + A (parking and forest area) and can agree with the positive reviews.

Very friendly reception. Here our request to play B was received, although A/C was actually intended as an 18-hole round that day.

The practice facilities are very good. At the pitching green there are even stones embedded for the approaches with the information 20 m., 30 m. etc. We have never seen anything like this anywhere before. Is very helpful.

The professional impression is reinforced by the birdie book that was created by a former tour pro!

The open B course initially appears harmless. But at the latest when you are lying in one of the pot bunkers, he shows his teeth. The main issue, however, is the wind and the undulating greens. 4 large wind turbines in the vicinity confirm that wind here regularly occurs at an unpleasant level.

The A course is a mixture of park and forest course. The successful layout always presents tricky tasks. Some doglegs and again undulating greens.

Everything in very good condition, although the greens on A were in a little better shape due to a tournament that day.

The impression is rounded off by the family atmosphere at the Italian club restaurant "Da Roberto" with delicious dishes.

Finally, the fair pricing policy should be mentioned. The green fee was absolutely appropriate in our opinion.

Conclusion: absolutely recommendable

A pearl in the north

32 lanes on 3 9-hole loops and a short course offer plenty of variety from Parkland to Geestland to left-sided.

Fair prices, good condition and friendly members and staff have made the visit to an experience.

Remains the restaurant that offered good pasta at fair prices.

We will be back!

Two very different rounds

Have early November, the price B / C played. Rarely two such different 9-hole rounds played. At first Nine (New Course), open square with many bunkers and water hazards, all brick hard, tees, fairways and undulating greens also. which probably beyond comparison in northern Germany, Banner position partly on the waves. The condition absolutely great for this time of year. Should typically resemble a links course probably, although I thereto may use no comparison because not played yet. Must play in Northern Germany. The back nine are more parkland, but was indeed described earlier. Typical of this landscape, just as here, a court is expected everything moist and soft greens not as difficult. Was indeed already November and for these nine were still OK.

Excellent condition

Surprised and equally positive - for the first time in Verden. Since this year the Club has 3 x 9 holes and, each week another 18 hole combination together. Third place is then a 9 hole course.
I was lucky and played A & B, the first 9 of the old course and 9 hole new place.
The old course is a parkland course. Partially very narrow, partially open with a little water. Top condition!
Course B is the new course. What a surprise: Links Course in northern Germany. Wide and open, slightly hilly, many bunkers, board-like greens, as Rough just any grass greenhouse (calf high).
One market that the place is still young, but can play great.
Practice area is large, pitching green can be played by two sides.
5 hole course is in each case straight about 150 meters with small greens.
We will be back

Verden is worth the trip

Without start times we could loosely go around, despite seniors tournament.
When we at Halfway - accrued house, we were told that we are on the cake - could serve breakfast and coffee. Just his payment in the provided checkout throw - mhm yummy!
And according to the waiting members is not only on tournament days.. something in the hut And the golf course is doing to spend the rest of his around a beautiful day in Verden. Since it is expanded by 9 more holes, sure worth a second visit..

Fair course and well maintained

The site is located partially in the forest. Through the narrow aisles in some cases exact match is required on the tracks. In return you can go full throttle on other tracks again. The restaurant is good.
